oil change
Does anyone know what type oil and what size oil filter I buy for a change?
This is my first blur and I don't know too much about it yet.

First service MUST be performed by a Genuine dealer to keep your warranty intact. Just buy a few extra filters while you are there getting your service done. I believe you want to buy *15w40* oil for when you change yourself afterwards every 1500 miles or so. Also, after first service, supposedly you only need to change the filter ever couple oil changes.
If any of my information is incorrect, someone else will please correct me.
Also, i see you are new, please take a minute to familiarize yourself with the search button before the old timers come in yellin at you for asking questions that have been answered 100x already before you.

For the oil, the recommendation is 15W40. As far as the filter goes, it's the same type as that used on some Vespa models (ET4/LX150/GT/GTS), and also the Buddy 125. It's available from Scooterworks for $9.95 a pop, and here's a link to the page:

Many folks advise using non-synthetic motor oil for at least the first change, and cutting over to synthetic at a later time in order to more effectively seat the piston rings. For my part, I'm using Pennzoil Gold. Many 15W40's are labeled "Diesel" or "heavy duty", but don't let that put you off. These scooter engines probably take more of a beating that your average car engine, so "heavy duty" is a good thing.
While it's true that one of the stated warranty conditions is that the first service be performed by an authorized dealer, the legality of that condition is open to some debate, so it's your call as to whether or not you want to take the risk. Unfortunately, my dealer made an absolute botch of the initial prep (both tires underinflated by 10 lbs., tranny case filled with more than 200 ccs of gear lube when 110 is the max, crankcase underfilled by 100 ccs, and the battery all but dead). Consequently, I'd rather do my own wrenching than let him get his hands on it again. But, as I said, the decision's yours to make.

Is this still true? When I bought my blur ('11 220), they instructed me how to do it. Not at all.
The first service should be done by the dealer, but there's nothing saying that it has to be done by them... especially if your dealer told you how to do it. The important thing is that it's not just an oil change, there should be a list of things that need to be checked, like cable play, bolt torques, seals, etc. If you do it yourself, write down the values that you found the parts at and make note of what you adjusted and the mileage it was performed at.
Also, that discussion focused on the 150cc Blur, which is a different engine. The oil weight will depend on the recommendations for that model and the climate range it'll be ridden in.
I'm not sure what the oil change intervals are for the 220i, but I always went to 2k with synthetic on the 150. 1500 is overkill, and I always thought 2k was as well, but it's cheap peace of mind.

But I can do the oil and filter right? I have no idea why the dealer would have to do this, just concerned about the warranty. I have no problem getting the other stuff done at the dealer.
Also the manual is pretty bad. Some places it says the initial service is 200 others say 300. On the site, it says 500.

I think (It's been a while) that the valve adjustment check was specified in a dealer memo someone came across, back when the first Blurs came out.
I dunno if they were set sloppily at the factory, or if they found they were going out of adjustment in the break out period, or what., but I took mine to Scooterworks (next door to Genuine HQ) and they adjusted the valves.
Not sure if it's still specified, or necessary, or if dealers know about it, but it's probably worth finding out.
