I was just curious if anyone had plans or has done an upgrade to the pipe as shown on scooterworks website?

Yep, i have the Blur Prima pipe on my 07. Its awesome, looks way better than stock, and makes the scooter actually sound like its got a pair. Not sure that the butt dyno will really indicate an increase in power output, i think the stock exhaust is pretty good as is, i just really didnt like the way it looked.

How long did it take you to replace it? and would this be a project for someone not that mechanically inclined? I take it is a direct bolt on replacement.

Direct bolt-on affair. Its a matter of two bolts holding the muffler, one clamp holding the joint to the header, and 2 acorn nuts holding the header to the motor.

If you tackle this yourself, do it on the side stand. there is just not enough room on the centerstand to slide the new header into place. Even on the side stand it was a hassle, but eventually, if your good at puzzles, you will get it in right. Just dont forget to install the gasket before the header, there wont be any room to slide it in once you get the header in place.

did you have to rejet the carb?

I have not done this but I probably plan on adding it to my list of things to upgrade.

Has anyone tried an exhaust and jet setup other than the Prima pipe? I don't think I like being limited to just one option. It's my understanding that any GY6 exhaust will work, with the exception of the exhaust manifold being slightly different.

I'd be kinda curious about building my own, if I could find a place that has the bolt on part that would essentially be the header, which could then be welded to a different muffler. Anyone seen or tried such a thing?

I haven't tried anything myself yet, but to me it looks like the only difference between the Prima and a generic GY6 is that on the Prima, the manifold wraps up and around the engine cooling air intake cover while the generic manifolds go under it then up. I've been eyeballing a carbon fiber exhaust setup that just might work, but I'm not sure I want to try it yet. Been thinking of going with a bigger carb and free flow air cleaner first. Then maybe a different cam.

I put the Exhaust on the Buddy, it helped a little towards the top end. Then I scraped the pipe on a right corner. I think a pipe going over the cooling fan might be the way to go.

I've been eying the "tri-oval" (?) type exhausts myself. I can't seem to find any kind of specs on how the exhausts perform. On the Buddy, the idea was to let the cars beside me know I was there. I'd like that on the Blur as well, but I need some get up and go to catch up to my wife on the lighter and pepped up Buddy. I could probably stand to try and loose a little weight, but it's a lot easier to add to the engine than subtract from my middle.
