I was finally low on gas and it was blinking, so I figured it was pretty empty. I filled up one gallon and it over flowed! I got it cleaned up, but it was dripping from a spot above the muffler. I remember reading about a pour design where it leaks on the muffler and could be dangerous. So after filling up a rag with gas drips it finally stops. I start it up and was on my way, only to have the gas gauge flash at me like it is still on empty and then disappear!
I rode it home, and a few times the gas symbol came back and disappeared again. Did I short something out? Or hit a wire with the rag? Any ideas? Its 6 hours later and its still not working.
Oh- I also dropped the gas cap and chipped it. It wasn’t a great way to start a Friday!

yeah... when my bars are gone mine will take ONE gallon - I always watch through the filler hole as I fill it up
about your gauge...
my speedo had a few problems once I put about 100 miles on my scoot
The speed would freeze
the odo would re-set & loose miles
and... the gas guage would disappear about every 20 miles (a restart would bring it back)
Hope you are not having the same problems.... but my fix was pretty easy - the dealer just replaced the entire unit
good luck

Almost same problem
Yeah I had (have) a similar problem with the LED. My overall odometer miles gradually disappeared and now my gas gauge is starting to disappear. I notified my dealer and they are ordering a whole new unit. And yes, that problem of gas leaking right onto the exhaust pipe when you overfill is ridiculous. The first time that happened I thought the Rattler was going to go up in flames.
If I can see you, I can pass you.
