I am going to paint or rhino line my rat to be black, and im getting those duro 903 tires to give this beast some rugged looks. Anyone have any suggestions of cheap ways to get a matte black scoot?

Krylon Ultra-Flat Black

They also make a clear matte finish spray that eliminates shine.

Be very certain if you want rhino liner. That stuff is almost impossible to remove. Probably virtually impossible on plastic.

One thing you will want to consider about the rhino liner-type products is that while they're very durable, they're also very heavy. Might slow you down if they do it right (i.e. a thick coating).

Now, if you still want to go that route, I did my old Yamaha Riva in similar fashion with a can of truck bed liner from Walmart and a thick roller brush. Looked pretty decent but it can be hard to get the edges well without taking the panels off and if you do get the panels off, you might need to sand down the area where the panels come together as the stuff is pretty thick.

Now that Genuine is offering a black Rough House for '09,
a very easy solution is to order those body panels.

I think for a flat black look, painting current panels is cheaper than buying shiny black panels, and then painting them flat black...

the new rough house panels in black look great! I went to Scoot Richmond last week and I was very impressed! the glossy black against the flat black looks awesome

Ok friends, this might be a dumb question but... When I paint this bad boy, is it mandatory that I take off the back panel? It seems like a HUUUGE pain in the butt. Anyone successfully do this without removing the back panel?

all the panels come of very easily. no reason to not take it off
