1st nice day in a while went around the neighborhood and the 3rd time I went to stop my front brake lever went soft all the way to the grip. Got home and there is a squishing noise out of the front brake line near the hub. Brake fluid is almost empty. No brake fluid on garage floor where its parked but fluid all over the tire. This just happened during a 5 minute ride around the neighborhood.
I had time today to take a closer look at the brake lines. Somehow it looks like it (brake line) rubbed against the tire and wore a hole in it. The left side front brake line has been worn from tire rub. The stand off is keeping it away from the tire and it really doesnt move that much. How could this be?
Anyone know front brake line replacement procedure? Is this quick and easy or should I take it in?

If under warranty "Take it in". It only holds about a 1/8th of a cup if that so you well not see much fluid. One should check the bike before each ride even if you just stop to walk into the 7-11 for a drink. Look it over, kick the tires, wiggle things make sure that its not going to fall apart. Remember the only thing between you and the road is the bike.rondon600 wrote:1st nice day in a while went around the neighborhood and the 3rd time I went to stop my front brake lever went soft all the way to the grip. i know safety first. it was fine when I left my garage. it happened during a 1 mile ride. freakin weird... there is a crescent shape wear on the side of the cable facing the tire. no rub mark on the tire. the stand off for the line is fine. My theory is something I rode over may have gone up there and wedged itself between the tire/brake line. Whatever it was I didnt hear, see or feel it. I ride on paved roads. Im puzzled. Maybe it was a squirrel carcass? but I didnt smell that either.
Anyway has anyone replaced their brake line up front? Just want to hear if its a huge pain to remove all those panels to get to it and where I might be able to find parts to order online rather than driving all the way to where I bought this thing.

Have your information ready and call 1-888-96-VESPA i bet they well have , a line. It should not be hard to replace the line yourself but if you have never bleed brakes befor you might want read up on how its done. Most of the time its easy Mr Gravity well do it, but one little airbubble well cause problems.

Figured out what was happening. Whenever the forks compress the brake cable would rub. Uncompressed it would not touch. We are all good now.
Add this to your safety a check. You need another person, one to watch the cable the other to compress the forks and see if the cable can or has been rubbing. It rubbed a crescent shape out of the back of my brake cable slowly over a period of almost a year.
