What upgrades, and where?

Post by Scalpel »

I'm finally thinking about biting the bullet and getting some performance parts for my Rattler 110. However I don't have an infinite supply of funds, so I'm debating what to buy for the most bang for the buck.

I'd love to be able to wheelie off the line, but I'm mainly concerned about top end. I'd love to get a little more top-end speed to keep up with the 125s and 150s. I have a 2007 Rattler 110, and it's completely stock at the moment. I weigh about 225-230, and stand about 6' tall.

What should I get first, and where can I get it? Should I start with a new variator and Dr Pulley sliders, and if so, what slider weights should I try and where can I buy all this stuff? Should I get a new clutch spring at the same time?

Replace the airbox with a unifilter pod:

part PK-22 ($38.95 for two).

Swap to a 115 main jet (around eight bucks).

After that, you may want to play with clutches and roller weights. But they're all pretty cheap mods until you get into the big bore kit, V8 pipes, etc.

How do those work in the rain? And how often they need to be swapped out? In other words, are they reusable, or do I need a new one every month?

the uni is a foam filter. grey foam pod and a red foam outer cover. it comes with or you can buy filter oil to condition the filter. with out this oil to help trap dirt the filter is not very effective in stooping dirt. then just plan on cleaning it with mild soap and spray it again. it will work fine in the rain, this where a k&n might fail. when you order you need to know the inlet size of your carb. if you want some other filter(style or color) you can check out www.scootercraft.com or www.scooter-attack.com or www.sip-scootershop.com. just for ideas anyway.
no i don't ride a scooter, i am a scooter pilot!

Air in... fuel in... I'd go variator 3rd. Better midrange response, save the pipe for 4th in my opinion.

Variator will come with rollers. And until you add enough extra HP or too many miles, the stock clutch will be fine. The MultiVar200 comes with 12g.... I have some 10g on order. I have the flexability of running 10, 11 or 12 at that point.
