Dealer Prep Fee Roughhouse 50 - fair amount?

Post by Nabby »

What is a fair amount for the dealer prep fee on a Roughhouse 50? Just trying to see what others are paying.

Thanks.

$154.00 set up for my Rattler. Should be the same for the 50cc same amout of trouble. Fair? No! closer to the $75-$100 would be Fair. But its ether pay it or go somewhere else.

Depends on the local market, and how good the shop is. The more they charge... the more you should expect from them in my book

I can't really complain, as I won the scooter in a drawing. However, I'm a little concerned when I asked the shop what they charge to de-restrict it and the response is "Do what? What do you mean?"

The setup fee is 299, so basically I'm getting a Roughhouse 50 for 300 bucks. There is another dealer, fairly nearby, who knew exactly what I was asking about and seems like a great shop.

My dealer waived the fee both for setup and for derestriction. They'll surely get more from me in repeat business.

Heck, if you don't want it, pay it anyway and sell the thing for a couple grand (or for $350 to me :P ).

I obviously wouldn't complain about the net cost, but I'd be rubbed the wrong way if a dealer took me for a ride, no matter the circumstances. Would it stop me from paying the $300? No way. But I probably wouldn't go back to that dealership. After all, they're getting the sale and the fee.

I went by my local dealer yesterday evening and the OTD price on a Roughhouse 50 is $2300. He explained that around $200.00 is the inbound shipping and the remainder being set up fees. I can understand passing the freight costs onto the buyer because we do the same thing in my business with boilers and other heavy parts.

I guess it may seem a little high, but I do live in the city and expected to pay more than someone living in a more rural area. Plus, I have the added bonus that the dealer is about three blocks from my house and could push the scooter there if I ever had a problem.
