Am I nuts?

Post by Driller »

New member, here.
I have been lurking for awhile and been absorbing all I can about the 110.
The Rattler has really caught my attention. I first started looking at scooters last year. Just about pulled the trigger on a Zuma125 when a friend offered his Majesty400 for just a few bucks more than the Zuma would have cost OTD.
My garage is a "two bike" space and the other one parked there is a Suzuki DR350 I enjoy knocking around on trails and Forest Service roads here in the foot hills and mountains of North Carolina. I will not give up the Maj. It would take me to the moon if I asked it and is a terrific touring machine.
That means the DR would have to go to make room for a Rat.
So, I ask.
AM I FREAKING NUTS to think about giving up an excellent bike for a RAT?
The potential "Grin Factor" of the 110 calls to me, but the DR makes me grin a-plenty as well.

I have had ten different MC's over the last ten years and find the smaller, lighter ones yield the highest smile to dollar value.
Help me. help me.....just don't throw me in the briar patch.
:P

welcome to modern buddy. you would have a great time with the rattler. but its a tough call on giving something up. each bike has something great about it and something you could give up. a two bike garage eh....sound like you just need to learn to park better. :P i think a third bike would just be more "cozy" and not a big problem. your right the weight of the bike, power to dollar ratio is appealing. minor trail riding is totally do-able on the rat but climbing hills and holding good speed on said hills would be tough on the rattler. won't compare to the 350. one is not better than the other...just different. don't think i helped much but good luck with the decision.
no i don't ride a scooter, i am a scooter pilot!

Wrasslin with the Tar Baby....

"She, Who Must Be Obeyed" controls the capacity of my half of the garage.
My excuse that creative parking would allow more bikes just falls on deaf ears.

1700 if I let it go.
This is typical of a lot of the trail riding I do around here on the DR.
A little long...beware if you are on dial-up.

Entertaining on a cold winter night.

If a Ruck can do that, I think the Rat would be just fine in that element.
Thinking you would need to put a little locktite under your fillings, though.
:goofy:

One question I haven't really seen is what is the "sweet spot' speedwise with the 110? There are many posts of top speed, but what is the zone you can cruise in with something in reserve?

Mine cruises great in the mid 40's, with room to spare. Current power/trans mods include:

RRGS V8 style exhaust
Highly modified OEM airbox with full Uni panel filter
120 main jet & .47mm needle shim
Dr. Pulley 8.75g sliders (custom weight)
Polished variator tracks
Dr. Pulley Hit clutch (light springs & no pillow springs)
Bel-Ray Si-7 2T oil

Mine has various other mods that don't impact speed.

My next bike (#3 in garage) is probably going to be a lightweight DS of some flavor.
