I'll need a ride first...

Post by Wolfstuka »

Ha usually people get mad when newbies come ask questions like I'm about to but..... I'm looking into buying either the 110 Rattler or the Roughhouse and I'm basically wondering how much I might regret buying the 50cc when I could have went for 110 Figured I'd ask you guys before the dealer flat out tells me to get the more expensive one.
I live in Ohio so it's pretty flat but we have the occasional steep hill and I don't want to be dragging butt going up a hill with 2 peeps on board. I would like to take my scooter everywhere I can minus highway. Honestly I like the look of the Roughhouse more but how much of a difference is there performance wise? I heard u can get the roughhouse to do 50+ after de-restricting I'm for sure getting it de-restricted if I buy the Roughhouse btw. Would it be crazy expensive and hard to boost the specs on the Roughhouse to something like the stock Rattler?

If it helps I'm 19, weigh about 145 and I'm pretty adventurous.

This isn't the place that will give you a lot of crap for being a newb or asking questions. Welcome to MB. I have the 110 but in the wild world of scooters the 50 seems to have more upgrade support. I would still go for the buck ten but many on this forum are happy with the rough house. best of luck.
no i don't ride a scooter, i am a scooter pilot!

What are the scooter laws in Ohio?

The 50cc might be beneficial if your state has a different law based on scooter engine size. I basically have the RH with my Black Cat. I love it, I mainly chose the 50cc because Colorado has great scooter laws for under 50cc ie., park on sidewalks, no insurance (changes July 2010), no license plate or tags, legal speeds up to 40MPH.

However, the stock 50cc was tough on hills and certain roads which is why I upgraded to 70cc. Some would argue why not just get the Rat or Buddy 125? Answer: Sidewalk parking saves me lots of $$ downtown.

roughhouse,,, with the right tech doing the job it should not be too costly,,, and it should make you happy for some time with proper care... it will be louder,,, should get better gas mileage,,, and in most states exceeds the "50cc" freebee no tag laws...

I have a rattler 50 (now the RH)
It has the prima pipe & a few other things that make it do 47mph (on the GPS) 53 on the speedo
I am 6' / 200lbs

I am quite happy with it for where I ride
That being said, my next scoot will be a 110 2T or a 150 4T so I can cruise on streets with traffic going 45-55mph with out feeling like I am in the way

Laws are kinda stiff in Florida. Anything over a 49 has to have a motorcycle licence and take the cycle exam. If you up it who's gonna know?

If I went with the 110 Ratt I would also have to get tags for both and me and my wife would have to get the extra licence and then the tax and tag goes up and you also need insurance. I went with the RH 50 just to have less issues.
