Rattler 50 shock upgrade?

Post by brianwheelies »

Can someone point me in the direction of an aftermarket shock for the Rattler 50?

The only aftermarket shock I know of to be sure to fit the Roughhuose/Rattler is this one:

My stock Roughhouse shock is good enough for me and has adjustable preload. It might be cheaper than this option to. I dunno if you would like it. But you can call Scooterworks to see if it is available. They have access to many parts OEM that are not on the web site.

I tried the shock Steve posted and it is too long and sold as a pair so too softly sprung. I can tell that a new shock will be great though! Time to try the yss piggyback.

I have my new shock installed. It is the YSS Piggyback model. So much better than stock but it is about a half inch shorter so I need to order one of those adapters to get that seat height back to proper level.

Bumps no longer feel like being kicked in the tail bone. Oh, and it turns! Before the bike did not want to go through a turn but now it does.
