So I sold my old scooter because I had to have the black Roughy! Just picked her up on Saturday (had it de-restricted of course) and I can tell she wants to go fast! Did you guy's take it easy on your newbys for the first 200 to 500 miles? It is taking great restraint to only go half throttle! Am I doing the right thing?

ask 10 people and you'll get 10 different answers

personally, i say do whatever you want to it, just vary the throttle speed for the 1st tank of gas (don't hold it at the same speed to long)

Worst case scenario you'll rebuild the cylinder. Best case scenario you rebuild the cylinder later... it is a 2 stroke

in both cases you end up with a big bore and more speed

Hey, wait a sec, I just got this beauty and you're talking about rebuilding this and big bore that, can't a guy just enjoy his new scooter! Ha! Thanks for the feedback...I have already thought about that 70cc kit. 8)

You'll know what is right for your scooter. It may need to be ridden harder than someone else's scooter... it may want a rebuild sooner. As I always say, ride- enjoy- repeat :D

congrats on the new purchase. i don't think there's a problem with going WOT, just don't keep it there. vary your throttle for the first couple hundred miles, which you rack up quicker then you think, hehehe. ride safe and have fun.

So far so good, varying the throttle and trying to keep from fast acceleration off the start. I live in the city so it's a lot of stop and go anyway. There are a couple long straightaways on my way to work where I have to let the throttle go from time to time. That really pisses off the cars behind me (variance in speed)...they must think I'm under the influence. Oh well. On a side note, there are a lot of j-walking pedestrians in Philly who either a) don't think scooters are that fast, or b) don't care. Either way, I think at least one or two of them have soiled their pants due to the "Bad Boy Horn" I LOVE IT!!!
