keys & Laxer,

Did your paint job turn out to look as good as those pics? If so what paint did you use? and how many layers? if you dont mind me asking.

I've been told it looks that good...I used Krylon Fusion. It's designed specifically for plastic. I just roughed it up a wee bit with some steel wool and had at it! I used about 4 to 5 coats.

I used both the Krylon and the Rustoleum, and I'd recommend the Rustoleum. I actually used the regular glossy black (4 or 5 coats) and then used the matte finish (2 coats). I think it turned out real nice! :D I'll post some pictures next week when the rest of my 'secret project' is finally complete!

Haha, I'm kidding, I think it would be awesome if us black sheep of the family were able to influence Genuine like that. Bring on the 2010 Matte Black Rat!!

Well shoot, the shop told me it should take around two days to finish the things I asked them to, so I was hoping they would call me at the end of day two. Now, we're at day three and I work all day, so I can't go pick it up until tomorrow (my birthday!), and then I'll finally be able to post pics!

Matte finish question - is it more difficult to keep clean? Like cleaning off bug guts?

In my first several weeks with the matte finish I haven't found it to be any more difficult to keep clean.

It is. I didn't use a matte clear-coat. I just used the matte black.
