Performance tuning questions....

OK, so I've got my RH50 at 150 miles now and I'm ready to start tweaking it. I want to install a cone filter, exhaust and possibly a new jet in the carb.

My questions are as follows:

1: What type of engine is in the Roughhouse 50? Obviously I need to know which one I have so I can order the right parts. The dealer I got it from won't give me a straight answer so only they can sell me the parts, not cool.

2: once I re-jet it, how difficult is re-tuning the carb? I'm a pretty good mechanic with my jeeps but I've never messed with carb, especially on a 2 cyc. engine. All of the vehicles I've owned have been fuel injected so I've never dealt with it.

3: What type of exhaust should I go with? I don't want the loudest, just the most efficient...... opinions? thoughts?

Any information I get will be greatly appreciated and anything I learn along the way will be happily posted in the future for the greater good! 8)

I'm fairly sure the roughhouse has the same engine as the Buddy 50 which is based off the minarelli horizontal. On the MRP website it states that the Buddy 50 and roughhouse have the same Minarelli Jog air Yamaha based engines.

As far as exhausts and rejetting. If you bought your scooter new, you might want to consider letting your dealer install a stage 1 kit (minus the rollers since most folks here say the prima rollers are junk) since going this route will keep your warranty intact

first off, I want to eventually mod my scoot as well, but...

the 50cc seems to keep getting faster and more responsive by itself. I felt that the bike was better at 500 over 200miles and now i have 900 and still think it is getting quicker. When I posted this in another thread someone mentioned that I will like it more at 1200.

Being the same engine as the buddy, I have heard good things about the performance pipe, but not the stage 1 kit overall. The common idea i have heard is to buy individually as the spring and weights are not the best.
"tumon-ninja" has good pipes that I believe produce better results than the prima. Dr. Pulley has the preferred sliders, and I am not sure about springs.

hope this helps
