How to sustain MPH up hills on a Roughhouse

I live in northeast DC now. My Roughhouse makes me feel like a king here, what with all the annoying spacehogging cagers around competing for every square foot of the roads. I have a gym membership and a girlfriend across the river in Virginia, and for the past month I had been using my Honda Accord to make excursions over there. Now that my wallet is feeling the pinch from all the gas poured into the Honda for daily gym/gf-based trips, I finally penetrated Virginia on the Roughhouse.
The RH's doing excellently except for one thing:
The hills.
Virginia is full of hilly terrain. Going down them is fun, of course, but going up them isn't. Being stuck at 20-30 mph up the hills on 45 mph roads is not fun.
What modifications can I do to my scooter to increase the MPH up the hills? It's already de-restricted.
I plan on getting a Ninja 500R after I take my planned motorcycle course in late August to remedy the situation of invading other states and going on highways. But two months is too long to wait

help me out here.

I don't think the Roughhouse was intended for that sort of riding.

I certainly hope you asked Virginia, for permission first!!!
seriously try feathering the throttle before you hit the hill leaving yourself some throttle before hand.

ok im assuming that your rh is de-restricted
I live in Richmond Va which is hilly, and me and my husband gun them before the hill. which helps (unless you have someone riding cupcake)
also there is the prima performance kit (high performance exhaust and rollers)

Would a Unifilter help him? I know that some of the guys over at GenuineRattler have had good success with a Uni and new jet on the Rattler.

I bet if you put on a unifilter pod and got it rejetted it could help. You may want to get the prima pipe as well. Good luck!

Unifilter? As in slapping on a new filter? I have some knowledge of car modification, being new to the motorcycle/scooter world myself. Is that parallel to a K&N filter?

Yeah, it's a lot like the K&N, it will replace the airbox on the scoot and is supposed to help it breathe better. Naturally you will have to get it rejetted, and, like I said, you may want to get a new pipe (I know that people have had great success on Rattlers even with the stock pipe, but I don't know how a 50cc would handle all the extra airflow without having a place to put it). I really am not sure since they are different engines. I think some people have put unifilters on their buddy 50's, you should look around and ask them since they're running the same engine.

Should I be scared to ask what "Riding cupcake" is, or excited? LMAO

Haha... riding cupcake?
Allrighty, so if I proceed with the air filter mod and the rejetting, how do I go about doing that myself? Is there a specific guide somewhere? Would I have to go to a dealer/mechanic for the rejetting?

You can get a pack of two unifilter pods here:
http://www.unifilter.com/online%20catal ... ersal.html
The ones the Rattler's are using are part PK-22 (the chrome pod), I'm not positive that it's the same size that you'll want for the Roughy, so you'll probably want to double check with your shop (mine sold me a single pod, oiled-up, and installed for about 25 bucks). As long as you're there, talk to them about rejetting (if you're not too mechanically inclined, it will be easier and fairly inexpensive to have them do it).
Edit--They'll also be able to tell you if you'll need a new pipe to handle the increased flow of everything or if your stock pipe will do (if it's the same pipe as the Rattler, you should be fine).

If you are going to penetrate them you had better send flowers.

riding cupcake? penetrating Virginia? what the hell is going on around here?
these motors have potential. your just trying to find a combination of parts that will work best. like the rest said your shop should have the parts and the knowhow to give you a boost. the thing that sucks is there isn't a quick fix or single part that do the trick. its a little bit of a chain reaction. latch and mrs latch felt a big diff after their de-restriction. a good place to start. then only money will stop you from making your ride a death machine.
