Stage 1 Upgrade

Post by rpmjr3d »

I had the Stage 1 upgrade from Scooterworks installed on my Roughhouse. Has anyone that has done this been told that extra oil needs to be added to the gas when refilling? Also, what is the jet size most are running with this kit? Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you install it or the dealer?

There is no need to add extra oil and to many variables to tell you what jet you need to run. You gotta run it and take a look at the plug, that will tell you if your rich or lean

The dealer installed the kit. Thats what I thought about about the oil, but I had to ask. My dad has the same scooter and kit, his broke down this weekend and it's looking like a compression issue. The plug on mine looks good but sometimes after riding I get fuel leaking from the air filter housing.

one thing that is often ignored when tuning a 50cc two stroke is 1/2 throttle range. You need to install a fresh plug and run around town for awhile at 1/2 throttle and check the plug. We have been needing to change the needles in the carbs to make up for this tuning range.

There is nothing specific to the rattler or rough house, but we have noticed this in several mini quads (jog power) and other brands of two stroke powered scooters

A correctly sized needle shim can also correct for a mid-throttle lean condition.

i have a stage 2 kit

Post by mojobuddy70cc »

on my buddy 50 now a 70cc andi know this>
you need to keep the stock roller weights or it WILL run hot due to overrevving.
2oz oil per/gal fuel needs to be added to a tank
a uni filter helps alot for speed.
and you need to run a cooler plug like a 9 instead of a 7 ngk.
you will get better top end on no heat seizure.
all of this comes from genuie techs i had probs on the first kit.
break it in for 500mi only about 35mph tops
check plug @ 500mi, plob ok, then check prima exhaust filter
clean it as it will cause loss of power if clogged, use brake cleaner, dries fast and your good to go
ride safe
