Rattler speedo is blinding at night

At night the blue speedo lights up the inside of my full face. It can make things harder to see. Any mods or suggestions that can fix this? Maybe some tint actually on my gauge?

I've been looking for a way to fix this as well. I know a couple guys have dropped the speedo below the handlebars instead of above it, but I have no idea if it helps. I was thinking of doing something simple and ghetto, like taping a piece of colored saran wrap on it or something, still don't know...

Keys moved the speedo and says it helped. I think it's a perfect excuse to put a GP gauge set on :D

I bought a roll of 5% tint from Walmart ($10) and used some clear packing tape to apply it over the speedo. It does the trick 100% at night, need to test it in the sun to make sure I can still read it. If so I will apply it to the speedo in a more permanant, less ghetto fashion.

Good to know. I moved my speedo to the rear of the handlebars and used model-airplane paint to cover the areas that are not being used. It's still too bright if I'm out on a back road on a dark night. Reflects off of the face-shield of my helmet something fierce!

i just take some masking tape and put over the display with black electric tape on the masking tape,,, day time i take it off and stick it in the little box... yes i can not see any of the display but who needs it,,, i know how much gas is in it and if i get worried about it i just peel it back and stick it back when through,,, i go with the flow of traffic if any not really worried about speeding on the Rattler,,, after 5500 miles you well know about how fast your going...

I'm planning to put some stick-back velcro on the sides, then a strip of the opposite type of velcro across the top. I should be able to mount and dismount the velcro as required.

The sticky on the tint works perfect for slapping a piece on before a night ride. Pulls off easily for multiple applications. I stuck with the 5% and just pull it off for day rides.

Also pre-cut a bunch of tint squares for backups. Does the trick, and gives the blue tint a nice deep glow in the dark. The squares also cover that bright a$$ high beam indicator.

Much better visibility at night.
