Longer Rides on a Rough House [Update]
I have read about some long rides that were done on a 50cc Buddy and the other scoots like the rucks & zumas but has anyone gone on a long trip on their Rough House?

Way back in 1976 i drove/rode a Suzuki 125 on/off road bike (2t) from Tallahassee Fl. to Heber Az. Took two weeks and a new chain in Texas. All in all it was fun. I would love to do something like this again but my body will not allow me (old)... Speed was about 45mph most the way,,, back roads lots of stops and a grayhound bus ride back home that took 5 days...
Scoot'in is more fun than beating up your sister, and it comes with a key!!!

That sounds like quite an adventure. So far I've done a 1k ride on a 250cc scooter, but that was too easy, so now I'm very tempted to do it at a slower pace and get to see things from a different perspective. Touring on a 50cc will be much more challenging & require more planning but hope to have a more enjoyable experience.

For starters I'd like to do something like a 300 mile roundtrip then work up from there. I'm just used to riding a 250cc scooter and 40 mph is usually the slowest speed I'd be going, but on the 50cc that would be close to the max speed, so it's going to take at least twice as long to cover the same distance and of course the route I would take on the 50cc would bypass all major highways and roads over 40 mph for that matter.
From what I've read the 50cc is quite capable of such a ride, even wot most of the time, but I don't think I would want to push such a small engine to it's limits for any length of time. I may need to restrain myself just out of habit of riding faster on my bigger scooter and only wot when absolutely necessary.

I have taken my 50cc TGB on many two gas tank rides 300+ just riding around for the hell of it... I was amazed at how well it would do a trip like that,,, and a few of them trips was with my 98lb daughter and day gear... (free roadside pickup was never used for my TGB) after 10,000 miles a crank bearing started going out then came the highend crank bearings, piston, rings ,arm, and CVT all MRP parts... the bike now has about 25,000+ miles ( speedometer cable is broke again from to high speed for the odometer 60+ it twist the cable in two) I drove it today and it is showing some wear but still fun and runs very well... Iv driven it WOT for 30 min.s max at a time with no problem,,, used Klotz KL-300 2t oil... In my Rattler i use Royal Purple 2t oil and I like it better then the Klotz.

It turned out to be a nice day today despite being overcast early in the morning so once the sun broke through the clouds I decided to go for a scooter ride...guess which one I took out today
The Rough House of course! I managed to get a 78 mile ride in and it did perform well and up to speeds over 50 mph indicated! yes it went beyond the 50 mph mark on the speedo on the flat! My Rough House is equipped with a windscreen and a top box which didn't seem to slow me down any. It even pulled me up some longer hills, actually small mountains without a problem, but not so sure I would take on a longer ride as I had thought at least without some serious route planning or try my gps and set for a bike route or roads 40 mph or under. The fuel consumption was good at around 80 mpg.. not bad for for my average speed around 35 + mph. Would also help if it would have a more comfortable seat, but all things considered not a bad ride at all.
