On the front of the CVT case there is a larger black hose connected that leads towards the front of the bike. What is this? Mine keeps coming loose and I want to know now if I've done any damage to my scoot.

It's the intake cooling air hose for the CVT. No worries.

Have not done it yet, but would like to find a cheap autoparts filter that would fit in place of that hose.

okay I had a real strange happening on the Rat today.
I was riding and it started to rain pretty hard, I was fine with that, because well it's south Florida in the Summer time and it happens quite a bit.
The strange part was my scoot started to feel like it was slipping when I'd give it gas, not like a not enough fuel, or a tires not making contact kinda slipping but like you could feel something not catching and then catching but it wasn't dramatic. I jumped off the scoot and gave it a once over and i'll be dammned if that big hose didn't come off my scoot too.
Now it was a pretty good rain could I have gotten water in the CVT and if I did would it cause the belt to slip? That's what it felt like to me.
I let it sit a few minutes in the rain, good times! got my handy screw driver multi tool thing out and reattached the hose, started her up and gave a few quick tugs on the throttle and let her idle for a few, and the ride home was smooth as silk.

yeah, if you got water in the cvt it could cause the belt to slip and without the hose it would be a lot easier for the water to get in there.

That's what I thought it was, but I was just making sure it wasn't something more drastic. I think in the morning I'm gonna pull the cover off and blow it out, try to make sure the waters all out of there.
