70 CC kit - put exta oil in the gas tank???

Post by ScootLemont »

I picked up my Rattler from Scooterworks today
They installed the 70cc kit

They said I should add 1/2 to 1 oz of oil to the gas tank at each fill up because the oil injector pumps are only set up to run a 50cc engine

makes sense to me - just wondering if any one else does this? (I will)

I don't have a kit on my 110 but started to add a little. Seem like it was a tough summer for the roughouse/rattler crowd. And I figured it couldn't hurt. I pm's a few others to kinda figure a consensus on the topic. And others have taken it up as well.
no i don't ride a scooter, i am a scooter pilot!

yeah... I thought about pre-mix but I dont know how to take the injector "out of the loop" - thats mechanical on the Rattler right? Not electrical... right?

Rob at Scooterworks suggested I do this with my Stella

I did this during break-in but my Rattler eats so much oil via injection now that I can't imagine it needs more - but the logic of a 70cc kitted one needing extra makes complete sense to me.

Do be careful when pre-mixing any significant amounts of oil, especially if you don't drive it a lot (or fill up at night, etc.). The oil has a tendency to settle at the bottom of the tank and can easily flood, especially if you are moving upwards of a 3% mix. This can turn into a real hassle pretty quick.

OK first thing? Is it a rattler or a rough house ...Im confused because the rattler 110 and the rough house 50 are two diff scoots...
Assuming either way Ok
Professional opinion ..Check out the oil pump ..pull it off and check free play ..More freeplay = less oil pumped ... down the road = replace topend
In my own personal opinion ..get one of these http://www.splatshop.co.uk/ipone-s2-2-s ... 1-ltr.html And completly remove the oil res and pump system and just mix you gas in tank !!!! make sure you know excatly how much gas your putting in ..like my scoot takes .8 gal so i put 3oz of in before i pump the gas its a lost science .why that lil bottle is awesomeness haha

And to the ratio ... I personally run nothin thinner then 35:1 ..but thats me it depends on how you ride if you just cruise and arent wrapped all the time you could get by on 50:1 But I like to fly on my ride haha

Take care happy skooting
