Most of y'all remember when I got the new Rat back in April.
Originally I was supper excited about having the Rat with every mod you could get already installed and tuned.
Well now is a different story, let me say that i am not blaming the quality of the bike or the guy that built it for the problems I'm having. I feel most of the responsibility goes to the shady fly by nite "scooter" shop i bought it from.
It's prolly been on the road for a solid two weeks since april, in that time I've discovered that one of the main exhaust mounting holes has been stripped out and another bolt put in to make it look all good. The clutch has been pretty much burned up from what i can only assume is abuse. My prima pipe has cracked at the head from the bolt coming loose.
When I was picking it up the owner of the shop was braggin to me how that thing would wheelie down the street all day, he knows cause he's done it...
I asked if it was to late to get my deposit back, cause i wasn't comfortable knowing he had abused the scooter as such. He proceded to give me an attitude and told me yeah sure but he would have to keep my original deposit of $200 because it stated in the contract that he could because he could have sold it 5 times while he was waiting for me to pick it up. I shook my head at him and told him good luck on going out of business and accepted the scooter.
Now I'm stuck, my actual scooter guy, told me it would prolly be a better idea to switch back to a stock clutch, and I'm gonna get a new prima for it, but I'm also considering just cutting my losses and selling the thing. If I do that I prolly won't get much more than $500 if that.
Sorry about the rant, but I'm a bit frustrated. I thought maybe if there is a lesson here, it is,"follow your gut if it doesn't seem right don't do it", if I had I would only be out $200 instead of $1000 if not more depending on what I decide to do.
Just because the machine is quality doesn't mean the guy who had it is.
The shop incidentally is now out of business, go figure....

Sorry to hear about your situation. Wish we had more ratt owners on here to be able to cross check issues. Could definitely been abused and passed on. And with lack of aftermarket parts, seems like less than ideal stuff is being used. Man that sucks. Not sure what you could get with a part out. Loss either way.

Yeah, parting out doesn't seem to work too well. I've been offering mine as a part-out for several months and there's really nothing wrong with it...just an electrical glitch that won't allow it to start. I figure I crossed something when I put the gas tank on. Other than that, nothing is wrong...engine is strong, good clutch and belt, sliders, new back tire.

But nobody's interested.

Well I now know who to PM when I need some parts.

I wonder how many Rattlers are in the US. Probably not enough to create a demand for scoots being parted out. I also wonder how hard it's gonna be to get parts when I need them. I picked mine up in April and only have 750miles on the odo. All stock. Other than the fuel sender sticking, I have had no issues.
