I believe the throttle cable on the beast just broke, have any of you guys changed one on the rat? If you have how difficult is it? Or is it just a major PTA, that should be left in the hands of a professional?
I have changed and tighten a lot of bicycle cables in my day, what do you think, and advice?
changing throttle cable?

Hmmm, I had not thought about it being a three part setup. I'll have to take a closer look. All I know now is when i twist the throttle nothing happens, and it has very little snap back.
The scary thing was it stuck open at first after the break. I am assuming that was from the cable fraying and getting stuck in the housing. I hadta to be cool and hit the kill switch, if I had panicked it coulda been ugly....

One more over due update(
)
My throttle cable broke pretty much at the carb, in the throttle body.
Near as I can tell it was from the weird angle coming out my carb and rubbing on the pet carrier.
This carb is not stock so it sits up about a half inch to and inch more, so the pet carrier was sitting on the cable, and causing more stress.
I have a new throttle cable assembly on the way from scooterworks as we speak.
I'm gonna get in there with the dremel and cut out a channel for my throttle cable, as this is not my daily commuter and it really doesn't matter about storage space, maybe fab some kinda cover for it, not sure yet.
I'm gonna have most if not all of the plastics off, so it might be time for that paint job

The cable was probably routed over the bar and under pet carrier. Rubbing through there.
when you put the new cable in run it UNDER the frame bar to the carb.
You will have to pull off the front headlight cover. zip-tie under there.
Then pull off the rear legshield, there are 2 screws under the headlight (up top)cover as well as the ones on the side (4 of them). Then "pop" the rear cover off and you can get the junction box out from there after you disconnect both cables at the carb and oil pump.
Oh yeah, and take the 2 front aluminum pieces off with the allens. I think there is a plastic tab for the legshield there as well. ( been a while since I did one)
The oil pump? Just pay attention to where the "stop" goes to at full throttle, and make sure it ends up going to the same spot at wot when you are done. Not a terrible job. Takes an hour or so.

Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?

Or if you HAVE TO wrap the snot out of the new cable , maybe cover it in rubber fuel line there.
I would still think, even with the flatslide that you can route the cable under the bar and give it a long loop...A
Are you running pre-mix only? If so you will have more cable "slack"
