Rattler 110 wont turn over.

Post by ArDrift »

Just picked up a 2009 Rattler 110 from a friend who hadn't been riding for a year and had stored it outside under a cover. I have replaced the battery and spark plug and checked everything else and it all seems to be in order, but the starter will click over and over without the engine turning over. Kick starting also yields nothing. Thought I would join up and post here to see if anyone had experience with this or if their was something I could be missing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Battery needs a charge. Even if new the clicking is probably the solenoid not getting enough through it. Charge it over nite and try again. Or if you bought it at a shop have them check it.

Since it has been sitting, it may need a carb clean.

If you are hand with tools you could remove the carb and spray the internal passage ways with carb cleaner and possibly replace the jets that may be clogged.

Also, there should be a drain on the bottom of the carb that can be loosened to let out any residual old gas in the float bowl.

Did you flush the old gas out of the tank and add fresh gas?

Why did the original owner put it away?

Previous owner just didnt like it, nothing physically wrong with the bike to stop him from riding. Going to attempt the carb cleanout tomorrow and see how that goes. Thanks for the help.
