Modern Buddy

Well I just ran across this on craigslist made a offer on it and brought it home Saturday.Its a 08 Genuine Roughhouse 50, just a little over 500 mile bought from original owner.I don't really need another scooter but the deal I got I couldn't pass it up and I love the 2 strokes.

2 stokes are great! Have fun with it. I have a 2012 Roughhouse and enjoy it plus I have fun playing around with simple mods.

Another RH convert! Congrats on your newest acquisition. You picked it up at a good time as the parts availability for this particular model is finally starting to take off. Both regular and performance parts are more readily available with what looks like more to come.

Just some words of advice. Get a different set of tires on that beast. The knobby's you have are just ok (OEM), but a better set will give you a smoother ride and handling.

And think about changing the contra spring to. Stock will leave you struggling up hills.

What size of spring, any other cheap easy mods?

Slap some Michelin boppers on there they make a huge difference, a windshield believe it or not will ad some speed. Changing your rollers to sliders it fairly easy as well (I went with 6.5 gram) and after that you could start airbox/exhaust and carb tuning.

I'm also interested in what size cintra you would recommend.

To answer the contra question for both post's. It will mainly depend on how much weight you will be putting on your machine. I usually haul myself around with an occasional grocery run. At 200'ish lbs. I went with a 1500 spring. Add more weight go with a 2000 add less go with a 1000. As to the exact weight ratio that you need to make your decision is the hard part. I just know after doing exhaustive research I found that for my own weight a 1500 was the way to go.
As theemptythrone stated, changing out those rollers will help. Sliders are a tad bit more expensive but not much, and the stock rollers are 7.5 grams. Go with a 6 or 6.5 gram weight, it will give your takeoff's a good boost. Going heavier will only bog you down.

Anyways I am 6'2'' and have a 1000 RPM contra spring and still struggle with hills, I would say a 1500-2000 would be better if you plan are in hilly terrain on a regular basis. Another easy upgrade is the headlight since the throw on the stock one kinda sucks (Headlight Link)

I am not a fan of the baby blue either, and yeah the headlight is horrible.The wife and I rode up to the gas station a few night back and she was behind me on the buddy 125 and all I seen was her head light over mine ,couldn't really see the RH lights.

What size is the stock spring? I am at 150 pounds don't really carry much wait, and not to many hills if I ride outside of town I usually ride one of my motorcycles.

I painted mine green so I like it a lot better! I noticed the same thing with my wife's buddy's light throw...but once I got this headlight and adjusted the throw with the screw up front, it was ALOT better!

If you are 150lbs. and don't have many hills the contra spring upgrade probably won't help much, you may even lose some top end so I wouldn't bother.
