Mid 60s... but I too ride with my throttle as an on/off switch. It's not worth it to drive like I'm on a 'burg to gain 2-3 mpg.

I just put my first tank of fuel in and had almost 78 miles on it with 1 gallon even filling the tank to the brim. My fuel bars started flashing at me around 65 miles and I figured I better not push it too much further lest I push it to the gas station. I thought the guys at the shop that sold it were a bit optimistic telling me I should get 90-95 MPG on it. I didn't run the throttle on or off the whole time, but definitely didn't take it too easy.
Anyone have a good idea on roughly how many tankfuls of fuel it will take to run through a tank of the 2 cycle oil?
Thanks,
Rick

What is your average top speed and are you running with any mods??
I am going to purchase a Rattler when the dealer in my area gets them back in stock and was wondering about the top end. I noticed that you and I are about the same size and about half of my commute would consist of 3 miles of 45 speed limit.

I'v got around 1500 miles on my scoot in around four weeks time since I bought it new. Mileage has improved, even after I installed a different clutch/variator/rollers (9g currently)/rejetted stock carb, v8 muffler with stock pipe.
This week with 3/4 to WOT on trips (30 to 80 mile one way), a few stop and go's, rolling terrain, sub 15mph winds, mid eighties temps - I'm getting 85mpg on 89 octane. No joke. If I babied it at the stop and go's and around the tight turns - I'm sure I could do a scratch better.
I'm 170 lbs., 5'8" tall - riding style is a combination of sitting straight up, full tuck forward, full tuck backwards with my back flat on the seat, and a few standing straight up as I lean forward on the bars @50mph to salute (left-handed) the passing bikers.
I was going to be happy with just 70mpg.

damn I get barely 60mpg on mine, but a big part of my commute to work is full throttle since it's a 50mph zone. Oh well - still better then the 25mpg my car gets

All you guys go ahead and knock 10% off that number, cause thats what the speedo is off. I have gotten as bad as 55mpg and as good as 70mpg. BIG difference in leaning on it or cruising.

Wouldn't MPG be based on the odometer?
are you saying that's off by 10% also?

Uh yeah. If it registers speed inaccurately then the odo is off the same. Kind of a bitch really. I would love to know if these things can be calibrated. I run around with my little garmin gps on the handbars all the time, only watch the factory screen for fuel.

If millage was based on the speedometer and it was off by 10% if you were to drive 1 mile on the od @ 5mph wouldn't you cover more actual distance than a 1 mile on the od @ 50 mph?
Since odometer distance can be measured by turns of the wheel, going from point A to point B is going to be the same number of turns no matter what speed you go.
screw it, i am to confused

I prefer to go with the delusional number

My naked SV650 used to get 50+.
I think I'm going to hold off on any more mods and let this all sink in

If the calibration is off for speed, it is off for distance.

i have acctually checked the odometer and it is off a little. my ride to work is 7.4 miles, but my odometer says it is 8.2.
going by the odometer i get 70mpg with quite a bit of my riding at WOT
i guess that works out to around 63mpg in reality

60-65 mpg
35-48 mph
180 lbs.
Stock pipe evap system removed.
Re-installing the Prima we'll see what impact it has on mileage and performance adter riding the stock set up for a week.

Re-installed the Prima pipe, there is a noticable increase in lower/mid to mid-range throttle response. Not substantial but worth the additional noise. Haven't ran a full tank though yet so no mileage report.

I get between 80 and 95, but it's on a Roughhouse. And weighing 115 lbs helps. I base that mileage on the fact that I can go back and forth to work at least 10 times before I fill up, and when I do I put about .8 gallons in. I know that it is 3.5 miles to my office (based on car GPS).
