roughhouse50 vs zuma50
been riding my roughhouse 50 side by side w/ a new zuma 50. both are virgin/unmod 2008s. The zuma has some speed on me both in acceleration and top end. another unmodified zuma 50 (2005) leaves us both in the dust
(obviously there are no restrictions on that model) I cant wait to derestrict this and see how they run then.
They dont understand why I broke the mold and got something other than a zuma. Regardless of speed the one thing I love is the foot rest!
anyone else care to compare/contrast (especially speed) roughhouse/cat/rat 50 vs zuma 50? I hope mine is not a dog. I thought I read it would be faster than the zuma out of the box

Re: roughhouse50 vs zuma50
They should be about the same speed, give or take a few mph. Both should be good for an honest 42 mph (speedometer indicating more) with an average sized person. Is yours still restricted? (variator and exhaust?). The zuma is probably a bit heavier. I don't know what Yamaha has done in the last year to change things to make them pass emissions.
The zuma floorboards are a bit more angled. Not a good design but that's the way all the Japanese scoots are made (and thus all direct copies and imitations by influence). They are designed for tiny people and more for some anime image than with the rider in mind. PGO took a slightly better take on the floorboards on the model that becomes the Rough House and Rattler. Still far too high, while wasting space in exchange for an illusion of (unnecessary) ground clearance. But it's much more horizontal to the ground which is great.

The Roughhouse is SOOOOOO much better after derestricting it. Fastest ever measured speed I ever got was either 51 or 52, according to the police radar. I don't know how accurate those are for scooters though. That was with all stock parts, just derestricted. I've recently gotten a new exhaust and have been experimenting with different rollers and jets, so I'll have to find out what it will get up to now. I tried earlier, but I got stuck behind a car

Well, I've got a Blackcat and recently had it de-restricted. Here are the before and after performance specs of the Blackcat.
Me: 5'9" / 135lbs.
BEFORE-
Climbing hills: 20-25mph max.
Flat: 37mph max.
Acceleration: Could not move out of the way fast enough for cars behind me when making a left turn.
AFTER-
Climbing hills: 35-40mph and still gaining acceleration
Flat: 50mph and still gaining acceleration even though my speedo is max out at 50mph...LOL.
Acceleration: Now I'm actually keeping pace with cars and don't have to worry about angry drivers trying to push me off to the side when making a left turn.
Like another user posted...have a 50cc scooter de-restricted vs. a restricted is like night and day. Enjoy your scooter and remove that restriction

I've had my roughhouse for 600 miles and I'd say it is the best 50cc 2 stroke out there (excluding the buddy 50cc, it's performance is equal to the roughhouse, but the roughhouse is a bit more rugged and a little bigger for more room) My roughhouse is de-restricted and does about 53 flat land no wind (speedo indicated) and is awesome in traffic on city streets. The underseat storage is great, you can go to the grocery store and come back with a full plastic bag full of stuff under the seat. The acceleration is great from 0 to 30, so city driving is a blast. My 220lb self can get up to 50 on most streets, which is like 43 actual, in no time, so it can always keep up. I take mine on long rides for like 50 miles where the speed limit is 45 or 55. On a flat road with no wind it will hold about 55 wide open, which is just under 50 actual. Basically, you can use this little scoot for almost everything you would use a regular motorcycle for except freeway driving.
On long trips with mostly wide open throttle, i get about 80 mpg, which is awesome! Some will tell you that holding wot on a 2 stroke for long periods of time is bad for the engine but i disagree. At top speed and wot, this thing isn't revving too high; it doesn't feel like it is winding out too much. Plus, it has a 2 year warranty, so if something should go wrong, it's covered.
I have taken mine for 6 rides of 50+ miles, mostly wot, and it performs great. I do vary the throttle a bit here an there just to give it a break, but otherwise it's just twist and go hard all the time, and she takes it like a champ.
Basically, I would recommend a 50cc roughhouse to anyone! I do want to get a Buddy 125 in the future for more adventure riding, but my Roughhouse is just plain awesome. There is no 50cc 2 stroke that can come close to comparison! I would suggest that anyone in the market for a 2 stroke 50 buy a buddy 50 or roughhouse!!!!1

No. As I alluded to above, there are restrictions in the variator and the exhaust.rondon600 wrote:well I did the exhaust derestriction (thats the only one right?) and in 10 minutes time, wow... like I got a new scoot!!! I left my 2008 zuma buddy in the dust and he is not happy. Looks new zumas need a throttle mod, variator mod and a new pipe to catch up to the roughhouse.
