With such a light weight and a governed top speed of 30mph drums are enough. Since drums are usually sealed they are pretty good for the "low maintence" crowd. If water does get in there it usually creates a layer between the drum and the shoe and kills the stopping power. JFrost is right about the pickup of the 2t vs 4t motor... but the Ruckus is still a slow little ride. Damn near bullet proof, but slow. I'd be willing to bet the RoughHouse's design is a lot more modern too

A buddy of mine here has a ruckus. The suspension on them is amazing. I didn't feel a thing really when he let me ride it. True that they're slow as heck too. Gets to 40 mph eventually and can see 45 mph with a slight downhill but it takes forever. The ruckus would be amazing if it was a 2T.
"I is to good making it ride faster now it doesn't not have that part witch it didn't can have?"

Don't think I was being disengenuine. We are having a Richmond Ruckus Ride on April 18th. We know nothing of your bikes and appears you are just as unfamiliar with ours. I was extending an invitation to at least meet at Pony Pasture for some discourse. Again you are quite welcome.
...settle down there Frenchy

i dont think that honda makes a bad scooter, they just make a slower scooter, that also has drum breaks, I think its great that people ride scooters no matter what they are, and another thing is we all are entitled to our own opinions. I posted this topic because I was shocked that my husbands scoot was faster with 2 people on it then a ruckus, and I am very sorry if my post offended you.
and the comment about cheapness? my rough house was the same as the ruckus in price, but had a higher suspension, a disc break, and a better warranty, I made the decision that suited me best, Im glad you made the decision that suited you best but lets not send ourselves back to middle school with catty insults
CitizenX I private messaged you about the upcoming rally hosted by the richmond based Seven Hills Scooter Club, maybe the ruckus group can make it, were all scooters thats all that matters.

I'm selling my Ruckus to help pay for my new BlackJack. My wife also bought a Honda Metropolitan (another 50cc Honda scooter) the same day I bought my Ruckus. When you compare side-by-side, it is clear that the Ruckus is not designed for speed; they have the engineering know-how to make a better bike, the Metro makes that clear. It is a big heavy ugly monstrosity with giant tires; this bike is a toy, meant to be ridden around in dirt and mud as much as roads. I love how ugly it is but it just isn't intended to be practical transportation like most scoots!
On the other hand, it is incredibly reliable, and the giant tires are great if you live somewhere with a lot of potholes. The bike attracts a lot of tinkerers, too.

As hesitant as I am to bait a troll…
Have a look around this forum and you'll see plenty of creativity and customization, both on the inside and out. Most of us like the Ruckus here and have some amount of appreciation for many types of scooters and the work people put into them.
If you ever come back to this forum, read the Posting Guidelines before posting. Abide by them or get booted. Thanks.

Actually, looks like this thread somehow drew a bunch of trolls.
Same rules apply to everyone. Read the Guidelines, show some respect for others. If the Ruckus guys can't be considerate and behave (and yes, some of you have been well behaved, thanks), the thread will get locked.

Awesome. Trolls are trolls. Real scooterists/riders/pilots know better.
Simply put, I love scooters. I currently have a Ruckus. In fact, I'm one of the founding members of the NWRA (Northwest Ruckus Alliance). However, my Ruck is for sale, and when I return from Afghanistan I'm planning to buy a Rattler. For me, it's just a choice that makes more sense, since I need something faster without pouring a ton of money into mods.
I love my Ruckus, and even more than that, I love the comradery that exists in the Ruckus community. I plan to keep on riding with those guys even when I no longer have the Ruck. (One guy said, "Of course you'll be welcome to ride with us... just slow down and let us catch up once in a while!"
) In the scootering community at large, there are already enough factors against us (inattentive cagers for one), and we don't need to be bickering among ourselves.

goatlover132 reporting.
i have been on this site many of times. eric is cool to some extent. its his site so let him have it. we just had our Super Sunday California ride with over 140+ scoots in attendance and 100+ of them being Rucks. btw some of your peeps came to the ride as well Eric where were you? dont mean to put you on blast bro you have a nice site this thread attracted some die hard ruckus peeps because the scooter community is small and word gets around quick.
bottom line is this. keep your site. keep your buddys and your vespas no problem. but before the people want to criticize what we are doing (on the ruckus side) i suggest you come out and ride with us. this way you can see first hand what we are up too. i have seen first hand what builders are doing with the ruckus and it is far more than what i have seen with Genuine's line. dgmw buddy is a decent bike but imo wont match up to the the unlimited customizations you can do on a Ruck for that, Honda's lil 49cc will sell and sell good.
BTW i had a Rattler sold it for a Ruckus.
I seen a rattler motor in a ruckus.. the last rattler i seen blew a belt (they put in a zuma 125 belt in to make it go)and then sized the piston.. ouch..
PWJDM came to the rescue for the rattler owner. A Honda Rukus Parts retailer. SUP DARRYL! tell BRAD to Come out and PLAY already...

You won't smoke my Ruckus!

79.6mph sweetcheeks!

BTW, I had a Rattler 110...and it's pretty slow. I swapped it into the ruckus...and still slow...put a Primo exhaust on it...Still slow...
But I just love 2 wheels so, bring your slow wheels out to the Next Super Sunday Ride.
Get a Zuma125 if you want real power and reliability, but get a Ruckus if you want to look cool.
And if you want your Zuma125 to look cool...Get a KILLER SCOOTER Extension Kit!

79 mph on a scooter..........why dont you just buy a crotch rocket man?
That is pretty stupid dude. You spent twice the $ on the mods than you did for the pathetic little 50 cc scooter. You suck at life

Naw, we just don't see why you ruckers feel the need to come on here and post about how superior you and your bikes are. It takes a pretty small man...KillerScooter wrote:OHH...You're my hero...You're so smart! You caught my typo and the world now recognizes that "YOU ARE SMARTER THAN A 5th GRADER"laxer wrote:1. honestly, I like the look of the ruckus. But I'm 6' tall and those things are like mini bikes.
You don't see we rattler owners getting all hostile and posting stupid crap on ruck forums to try to add inches to our d!cks. I think it must be a nepoleonic complex because their scoots are small.
and that's the truth, Ruth.

Weird, a motorcycle magazine doesn't like a stock Rattler... or a Ruckus
Please guys, enough flaming around here. Ride what you like, like what you ride. A few more small parts accusations and this thread stands a great chance of being locked down

I don't give a damn if it does! I wish they would have locked it awhile ago, so these damn inferiority-complexed ruckers would go back to whatever shit hole they came from!nissanman wrote:http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/127/3803/ ... 1464739306
