I've never had that problem, so I'm not sure. I'm guessing it has something to do with uploading pics directly to the forum vs. using a link to a photo site (I use photobucket).
Anyway, I did a quick search and came up with this thread that may help some.

Eric has a post with a link to a MB FAQ thread regarding uploading pics and resizing, and a couple of other links to MV that may help.

re: page width - there's a post near the top of this page with a ridiculously-long URL which forces the page to be ridiculously-wide. Some images (inserted as attachments?) are centered when they're posted, so they _look_ like they're waaaay over to the right. Images inserted with BBCode or the 'Img' button seem to be properly left-justified.
