siobhan wrote:Ugh Syd! I had a real American phone box that I was going to snag today...grrr. And in Rhode Island, Dunkin' Donuts IS our local donut shop. There's one on every corner and people give directions with reference to a DD location (turn right where the DD used to be). And even tho' DD wasn't born in Rhode Island, we feel it's OUR local donut shop. I think it's cute that our neighbors to the north are trying to sell Tim Horton's here.
Sorry, siobhan ( ). I guess it doesn't surprise me that if there are phone booths left in the US, it would be in New England. New Englanders appreciate their history, unlike out here where historic neighborhoods were built in the 50s.
As for DD, I'm a Baystater by birth; its significance in my current eating habits can't be ignored!
Krusty wrote:Now the new tag: A BARBER SHOP
It's gotta have the spinning striped pole (or at least a stationary striped pole).
Nice one, Krusty. I know of a couple real barber shops around here. Not so sure about the traditional barber pole though. Plus, I need to get my Hunt submission tomorrow.
I couldn't find an actual barber pole this morning...does this count?
If it doesn't, it won't hurt my feelings. It'll just mean I have to scoot further to look. More scooter time. Oh, the pain. Oh, the agony. Oh, the excuses to avoid working.
I was a "Saint" but no statues on campus for that....
My son went to Lewis U & they were the Flyers (cool WWII looking pilot guy but no statues on campus)
KRUSTYburger wrote:Ooo, I was a PIRATE! Though I'm not sure if our campus had a pirate statue anywhere.
Doesn't have to be a statue, just the mascot.
Scooter with someone in a mascot costume would be pretty awesome, but since it's summer (and not a sports season I know of) I doubt that's gonna happen.
Is this acceptable? The George Washington University are the "General", but I rode all over their downtown campus looking for a "General" statue. No evail, but this was at the main plaza of the campus. I also rode all over Georgetown looking for a Hoya, what the hell is a Hoya anyway? Couldn't find the bulldog. If this is a no-go, I'll have to head to UMD and find a Terrapin.
Errr... water tower has been done. Bonegirl, page 4. I answered that tag with a big elevated water tower. Sorry BSFF. I guess all the easy ones have been picked off already.
I rode out to some little Rhody farmland today after work and lo and behold, I found me a white picket fence. It is some sort of historic farm but I didn't hang around too long as I wanted to get back to where there were people.
siobhan wrote:...I wanted to get back to where there were people.
It would probably surprise a lot of people in the West to find out just how easy it is in RI/CT/MA to find places where there is no-body. Still, that made me chuckle.

Well, I was joking It's not like I was in Burrillville!
All the manholes (or should that be personholes in this politically correct world) around here are in the middle of the road so rather than risk getting run down I parked on the side of the road & went for a Manhole cover in the distance shot. The dogs in the background were having sit at the kerb before crossing the road lessons. The bigger one wasn't quite getting the idea & eventually got a smack, poor thing...
Next tag: Your scooter at a Biker Gang Clubhouse
I came across 2 of them so I got a pic of both. The 2nd one, S.R.M.C. stands for Satan's Riders Motorcycle Club.
It has to be a proper Harley riding big tough mean leather clad Hell's Angel type dude's biker club, not just a bike riding nicer people social club. I wanna see the type that would kick your scooter over & burn it if they caught you parked in front of their clubhouse kinda biker club. That's what the Rebels or Satan's Riders probably would've done if they caught me taking these photos.
Tony, brilliant idea! What's with all the weird markings on the roadway? Is that normal or repaving?
Come on New York MB'ers...head down to 3rd Street btw 1st and 2nd Aves and grab a snap in front of the Hells Angels clubhouse. I'm sure the pleb keeping guard out front wouldn't mind posing on the scoot.
Good one Tony! I don't know how long ago it was we had a biker bar tag, this is much better. I'm out on this one, though. I went looking for the HA clubhouse in the Valley, but it had been raided so many times that it was either moved or went quiet, because there isn't a clubhouse any more.
Hmm, maybe I'll run out to world famous Hell's Angel Sonny Barger's house. He lives here in the PHX area and I'll bet he'd like to play Tag!
siobhan wrote:Tony, brilliant idea! What's with all the weird markings on the roadway? Is that normal or repaving?
This photo is in the street where I work. They dug it up a few months ago & the square around the manhole is just a strip of tar where they repaved around it. It does look like a paint line though doesn't it.

Go on, live dangerously!!! Life's too short not to be beaten up by a gang of biker thugs
Most of the ones around here are just old men now who've never grown out of their teenage gang mentality years.
Very tough old men though...
Interesting Note: I thought we have had some hard to find tags on MB Scooter Tag. I just started a Scooter Tag game on the Kymco Forum & the 1st bloke to post a reply Tagged with a GLACIER!!! http://kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=2610.0
I don't think I have seen one of those when I've been riding around town. Although there are some quiet back streets I haven't been down yet...

Biker Clubs in any of the surrounding States are all underground. No visible Clubhouses around here. You can't even go most places with any of your bike "colors" or you are told to leave. Maybe LA or NY but not in my neck of the woods. Have fun!

If it proves too hard for anyone to find one by the end of the weekend I'll post a new tag. Don't wanna bring the game to a standstill. I like to keep it moving.
yeah... we got some biker bars here... but no official club houses
The Renegade Pigs sometimes do poker runs out of Tom's Place in Lemont (my town) but definatally not a club house.
OK looks like no-one can find a Biker Clubhouse & I hate the game grinding to a halt so to keep things moving I will re-tag. New tag: Your scooter with a grave monument with an Angel on top
It appears that Tempe favors the ground-level, easy-to-mow monuments. Go figure. But I found this little angel in Mesa:
Then I got the new tag:
A roadside, unofficial (illegal even, but rarely removed from the side of the road) memorial. This is a Ghost Bike, but any similar is acceptable:
I haven't gotten any tags yet this season. I wanted to get one today. I am going to pass on this one however.
Be very clear here, I AM SPEAKING FOR MYSELF, and not making any generalized statements. I feel very insensitive using a symbol of somebody elses loss and pain to advance our own fun and games. I am making a request that Syd post a different tag.

Roadside memorial: you'll have to excuse the darkness. Many of these memorials are along big roads and at the moment, lots of these roads are being repaired. I knew there used to be one along this busy street but they have the curbs and lane torn up. I was really surprised to see this little memorial still there through all the big construction.
Here's one for you: A life-sized Silhouette. We have these things all over the Midwest. They are usually big wooden cut-outs of guys leaning against a tree, dogs digging in the yard, etc. Anybody else have these in your area?
ScootLemont wrote:BoneGirl want to try another pic?
Lets get this rolling again
Let me look through our list and see what I can find. Sorry about this. We just happen to have a lot of these things in the Midwest. Passed a farm yesterday with a family of pigs sillhouettes out front!
this one might seem a little sick and twisted, but I don't care. I passed this one of several roadkills today and thought, wow, what a great idea for scooter tag!*
Your scooter next to a DEAD SQUIRREL!
*I did not kill this beast, nor do I condone the slaughter of any animals while out on scooter patrol. Please do not kill any innocent squirrels for the sake of getting a picture, karma will come around. For taggers who don't live in squirrel habitat, the most common roadkill will suffice, such as Tony sending a dead Kangaroo or Syd an Armadillo.
