Recommend?

Hmm... grain o salt here... just some that I think are top notch.

General games:
Oblivion, 200 hours of gameplay, what can I say
Fallout 3, yum
Bioshock, yeah its a FPS but its so damn good
Crackdown, king of sandbox and heights
Forza, sim racing
Mercenaries 2 - underrated and fun as hell, sandbox style
much more, but a start.
Burnout (not the newest one, go back a notch)
Viva Pinata - family fun, damn fun, get some pinata

Arcade...
Braid - mind blowingly amazing puzzler in a time shift world. Looks like a platformer, plays like a mind****.
Worms

Just a few suggestions.

Nice to see girl gamers out there. Sometimes the boys and the unwashed nerds just overpowers the geekland and makes the rest of us get sad.

if you enjoyed the height of crackdown, which was one of my favorite games, pick up mirrors edge. it's alot of fun and since it is a short game it can be had used for pretty cheap. you could even buy it, beat it, and if you didn't want to keep it on your shelf, return it back to gamestop in 7 days

Tell your hubby we love him for keeping the race real :D

And you, well, dig around, find something you love. Keep the gamer girl action going! Video gaming is love. Video gaming with the one you love is bliss. Video gaming and loving it is satisfaction.

Man, this thread is making me wish I had my own place again. I can recommend some,
tho they would be for PS2/3 but they may be available for XBOX. No particular order:

sorry most are multiplayer...

Lair, StarWars Battlefront 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Matrix: Path of Neo, Dragonball Z Budokai 3,
Rocky, Guitar Hero (any), Kingdom Hearts (nerd), Katamari Damacy, Black, War of the Monsters,
MK Deadly Alliance, GUN (cowboys!), Prince of Persia Warrior Within, Transformers (only cuz I like
morphing back and forth), Marvel Nemesis, and yes, Burnout Revenge is one of my fave racing games.

If it weren't for Lara I don't think I'd have ever bought a (any) console.

YAY ANOTHER GAMER GIRL!

if you like star wars games you would love force unleashed, its rediculous!
we want a ps3, but we have to wait until we can afford it. So transformers is good? I should get that for psp, oooooh does it have the optimus prime voice? i wish my life was narrated in that voice. fable 2 has a beer titled hoptimus prime, that should be a real beer

fs8gbe, you should win a cookie for giving thrifty tips!

me and the hubs need a second tv and console, lol, dream setup!

Actually, I wouldn't say Transformers is "good". it's ok. Honestly my favorite thing to do
was just drive around and find ramps and then transform in mid air... good times. 8)

and yeah, it has the optimus voice.

Well, currently I am sleeping on my parents' couch in their leprechaun house (470 sq.ft.).
They like to use their TV and there isn't really room for a system anyways... :(

If you're curious about FPS's (first person shooters) but find them to be "too much," MrsLatch, this is a great recommendation. I'm TERRIBLE at shooters but Bioshock is very forgiving (especially if you play the "Easy" difficulty), besides being a really neat story and just all-around fun. (It's available on the 360, PS3, and PC for $20-$30.)

If you like the Star Wars universe and aren't anti-RPG I'd also consider Mass Effect, which is a really great sci-fi story and an amazing value at $20 new. Even better, the two-disc platinum hits edition for the 360 includes bonus content. (Available on 360 and PC.)

My own personal top five wouldn't interest most people since I tend to like obscure and niche games, especially RPGs.

i really enjoyed bioshock but after a while i did not like that universe. i mean it's well crafted, maybe too well. and it just started to get to me. maybe i am a wuss lol

what about ninja gaiden. or pick up an old copy of psyconaughts. one is cool weapons and fighting the other is just a lot of fun and a little trippy.
+1 on the bioshock and mass effect.

In no particular order:

Final Fantasy III
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (absolutely revolutionized gaming)
Madden (addictive and simple)
Tony Hawk (same)
Super Mario World

oh man laxer if you like zelda, play zelda phantom hourglass on ds, its great, you have to blow at the ds to make wind, and yell at the ds and stuff, its great.

gameinformers april 09 issue had a big work up on bioshock 2, it looked great, so if its easier than a typical fps ill have to try it out

beeporama, when you say rpg's do you mean WoW and diablo, or rpg's more along the lines of fable?

Something inbetween; I like more story than Diablo, but more number crunching than Fable. (Although I'm in the middle of Fable II right now and it's not bad.) Mostly JRPGs, the most famous examples probably being the Final Fantasy series; on the 360, something like Tales Of Vesperia or Lost Odyssey. But western RPGs can be good too; I loved Mass Effect.
