Just got my custom seat back - it was lowered, and covered in beautiful deer tan leather. I couldn't be happier.
The work was done by
Pirate Upholstery in NY. Highly recomended!

price range?
did you have to take the seat to them?
how long does it take for the conversion?

That is beeeeeeeeeutiful! Really, really nice. Love the shape, the color, and that there is a slight two-tone to the leather. Very tasty!
[Edit to add: those of you who like the Prima Roll Bag (but not it's quality...) will want to check out the
leather roll-bags ay Pirate leather. Nice!

Thanks! It was three and change - that was with the lowering and gel inserts though - just the leather upholstery would be closer to two hundred, I think. I bought the seat here on the modern buddy classifieds, and had it shipped directly to Pirate. That way I didn't have to be without my ride. Now I have a seat that I can either sell, or keep around as as spare... It took roughly two weeks.

That's really beautiful. First Pirate Buddy seat as far as I know.
For those not familiar with them, Pirate does a lot of very cool custom leather work. Check out their site:

use it as a loaner for anyone else that wants to do the Pirate upgrade??
I dont think the wife it interested in making any expensive upgrades on her Buddy until she get the training wheels off it - but a custom leather saddle on the Blur

has me thinking seriously. I would love to smooth out the hump add some more comfy gel and trick it out a little
maybe black w/ orange flames kinda like this one

I was looking into having a seat done by them about a year ago (decided to wait due to funds) and if I remember correctly, they will ship you a loaner seat while your seat is being worked on.
....here we go...seat exchange program:

I'll loan it out, permanently, for $50 plus shipping!

I really need the boyfriend to create a web site for his custom upholstery. He doesn't even take pictures.
I love the Smurfette seat.

I'm in the middle of reshaping the Blur saddle. Does anyone know a source for some gel insert or pads on the cheap? I'd be eternally grateful!

I was also wondering about the gel pads. I have a yoga mat I used for camping and I was thinking
about chopping it up and tweaking my seat. I really need a spare seat so I can just go crazy!

I'm very interested in reshaping the Blur seat, now that wife has her own ride she doesnt need the back of mine. I've always felt a little cramped by the hump and cant comfortably slide back to take advantage of the windscreen. The profile of the stock seat gets pretty thin in back but if I could get it leveled up and the the hump pushed pack, maybe exagerate it kinda cafe racer style, add some comfort gel and a custom leather skin it would really make it pop
