Arrrr - My Blur has been Pirated

I just got my leather seat back form the fine folks at Pirate Upholstery http://www.pirateupholstery.com/.
The original Blur saddle was a little uncomfy & cramped for rides longer than my daily commute. I followed Fretman's lead viewtopic.php?t=10335&highlight=leather+seat when I saw what he had done and the craftsmanship Pirate Uphosltery offered I knew what I wanted to do.

I sent the seat to Pirate with a cafe racer style of seat in mind. This would allow me to use the full length of the seat without the pillion hump restriction (now that MrsBuzz has her own scoot she doesnt need to share space with me anymore). Pirate lowered the riders area and cut the hump down to the seat pan, had to modify the seat frame and reinforce the remaining pan. Then gel was added and recovered with foam making the new seat longer and pushed the 'cafe' hump to the back.

I couldnt be happier with the results :D 8)

A quick test ride last night and it is a huge improvement. I can slide back on the seat at speed & back to the nose for stops. I actually think I picked up a few mph in a semi tuck but it might have been my excitement. I also dropped the WS as low as it will go (thanks for that tip LMC). I'm toying with the idea of cutting it more like a cafe style screen but I'll keep it like it is for a little while.

Many thanks to Jay and everyone at Pirate Upholstery  you guys are awesome :!:

Looks good!

I had my Stella seat recovered by Pirate as well. It took a little to get used to as I had been using a P200 seat, so the ride was completely different. I wish I had gone with some kind of design while I was at it. I just kept it straight black waterproof leather. Still looks great though.

So hows the ride on that bad boy?

I completely missed this thread. Buzz, that is awesome. They did a damned good job.

Where do you find yourself riding on the now flat seat?

It's been freaking raining all week here

No worries I'm still commuting, with the rain cover and rain pants on  With vinyl on wet vinyl it's real easy to slide up and back, using the back while I'm rolling, slide to the nose for stops. The nose/old drivers seat is more comfy than it used to be, but I havent had a real opportunity to take a good long ride to see how my butt reacts. The back part is pretty thin compared to the nose and with the rework of the pan it's pretty firm. I think I'm gonna really like it like that though - while at speed I can slide back to the wider/firmer seat. I'm lovin the flexibility to stretch out more than the original gave me - the primary reason for the upgrade. For tooling around in traffic and commuting I can stay forward and enjoy the more cushy section and the new gel underlay  . It's not going to replace the Burgman for long distance/cruising/touring but I'm eager to ride it to the beach one of these weekends when Mrs needs the cage to visit her mom or whatever.

 it was your post that turned me on to Pirate - thanks for that!!

It wasnt until I went back for the link that I noticed your grips
How's that work? Did you send them at the same time or do they slip over somehow?
