I was at the "crappy" day job (delivery driving... eh, the tips make it worthwhile to not be too grumpy about it) and came across this. Zero backstory. It's in a working class part of Tempe: Not bad, not luxury. Just your average decent college town apartments. Pavement around it and the roof of the awning charred black. Obviously the Chrysler next to it didn't fare well either.

Odd. Really would like to know what the hell happened. The funny part is that the bike is STILL locked to the parking structure!

Guy that I work with saw the exact same thing in the city (Philly) down one of the alley/sidestreets. Just wished he had snapped a few pics for posting.

Actually, pooled gasoline is quite difficult to light with a match, much less a cigarette. Mythbusters tried it and they were quite irritated how difficult it was.

That's true. Also hard to light a full tank of fuel with a tracer round. Mythbusters is a great show.

scooter is toast...car is burnt, but cable lock is FRESH...SOOOOO....they locked it up AFTER it was burnt???

Holy crap! I'd be curious what happened, too.

But I'm also curious about that lock. It looks in perfect condition, so it must be a pretty good one!

The weird thing about this photo is that even though there's a scorched car next door, there's no debris under the scooter. Even if all the plastic melted, don't you think there should be a puddle of crud underneath?

I'm sayin' it burned someplace else and was dropped off (and locked up) in the garage.
