Over two weekends I rode maybe 400 miles. First weekend I went all around Angeles National Forest deciding where to camp. Then the second weekend I packed down my Buddy to go camping. It turned out great!
I noticed that going uphill in the mountains I top out at about 40-45 mph on the speedometer. It felt a little pokey but I really enjoyed the views.
For the campsite, I drove in with my clothes and camping gear and found a campsite first. Then, I went back into town (Little Rock, near Palmdale) to get firewood, groceries and water. Some friends met up with me later in the weekend.
I'll try linking to some pictures...

I could not tell much difference in handling with the load on. There was one or two times when the front tire skidded just a bit on some gravel. I was trying to be careful so I wouldn't go down on a curve over gravel.
I have done a couple of rides with the LA scooter meetup group; good times!
The one annoying thing about going camping on the scooter is getting gas. I have to unload everything to fill up! I wish there was a way to fill up without having to unload all the gear. Assuming that I will always have this issue, I want to camp a little more to simplify and standardize the bungie cord regimen. Each time I load up it feels like I am doing it for the first time and trying out a configuration that will work.
