Bar End Weights?

Post by BeachBuzz »

what's the deal with the rubber nubs on the bar ends of the Blur?? I have a set of Carbon Fiber Buddy bar end weights that I bought to try on my Burgman, but they didnt work out. So I thought why not upgrade the Blur? I tried to remove the rubber nubs and it appears that the nubs are part of the grip  There is a recessed hex on the end, similar to the hex on the weights, but on the nub the hex is part of the rubber and totally useless. It seems like the nubs would have to be cut off, but I cant tell what's behind them or if it would be possible to install the weights if I did cut off the nubs.

Anyone know the secret?

It's all one piece and the hex parts are pretty much for looks. I replaced the grips and the bar ends and it works out well. I was reluctant to replace the grips on the Blur as I rather liked the 06 grips. Now it's got gel grips and the carbon fiber bar ends and it feels a lot better and looks sharper. You could cut the rubber part off and install the end weights, but there's no going back if you do that. It should work fine, but there's always that thing you don't think of.

No Problem at all. Just one suggestion, though. If you're going to put bar end weights on, go ahead and get some aftermarket grips. I put Progrips on mine. They're open on the end so the end weights require no cutting, they're cheap ($10) and they feel a lot better than stock - and that's saying something.

The 07's have a separate bar end. The 06's hand grips are all one piece (including the ends). I'll try to dig up a pic or snap one when I can get to the grips again.
