Rapid Transit Tank Bag on a Blur

Post by Lostmycage »

I just got my tank bag from new enough. (Sadly, this is no longer available).

http://www.newenoughhp.com/closeouts/lu ... k_bag.html

It wasn't a blind purchase, I went out the day that I ordered it and too tape and calipers to pull a number of measurements, then compared them to the website.

Fit is snug. So snug that considering that my legs are on either side of it, I didn't bother strapping it down. It's not so snug that it can't be removed, but with the stiff bottom, it just fits fantastically. I did use one of the straps as a safety, just in case something happened, it won't fall off. I found that an added bonus to that is that when I want to open the seat or put gas in, it slings off to the side similar to the way a helmet would hang off the hooks.

Pics:

This is the hanging position for when gassing up or fully opening the seat.

They also had a smaller one for $7.50 which I'll be reworking to make a tank bag mounted GPS case, more on that later. (I think that one is still available).

Lastly, if you buy one, there's something up with their donation program right now as ModernBuddy wasn't listed. I skipped the donation and after ordering, emailed them (via replying to the order confirmation email) and requested that my donation go to ModernBuddy. I got a response the next morning saying that it'd be no problems.

Mine arrived today. It's a nice little bag. Lots of room inside, straps, padding for sitting on the scoot, etc. It even has a MP3 player pocket with a hole for the headphone jack, and the "rain coat" was a nice touch too.

Not bad for under $20!

I thought it was well worth it, then I got it and that suspicion was confirmed. Glad I could help! I love closeout stuff!

And it tastes crunchy even in milk :D

I dig it, I am sure I will find use for it unattached to my scoot too. Going to use it this weekend to haul my stuff. I think my nettop will fit into it possibly. If not, I can put my toiletries into it or something.

If it rains, I can throw on the raincoat. :D

Quick bump for the newer Blur owners and the others that are returning from hibernation. This evidently wasn't a temporary sale, they still have them at this price and I still love mine. Shipping's a little steep, but for about $20-$25 (memory is foggy) you can't beat beat this for a multi-function coffee mug holder, direction holder, change holder, work backpack (let's face it, the extra straps are useless if you don't thread them into a sling for carrying it off bike) and awesome utility luggage.

I've used it for several months now (no parking my scoot for the winter here!) and I love this thing! As soon as the weather gets away from the 30 degree swings per day, I'll be retiring the topcase till fall and using only this and some clever bungeeing.

If nothing else, it's a sweet coffee mug holder and the friggin orange matches the friggin Blur... you know it was made for this!

Enjoy!

I've used mine for lots of stuff since I got it... almost none of it scooter related.

My nettop and it's supplies fit perfectly into it.
My Wii and it's supplies and a few games fit perfectly into it.
When I was traveling, I used it for my toiletries and a pair of socks and undies.

I am going to be using it this summer for scooter stuff too. Go bag go.

You could leave it zipped partially open and stick your travel mug into it so it didnt move I guess?

That's exactly what I do. My travel mug has a button on top that opens or closes it, so I don't have to worry about it sloshing out on hard corners. I'll see if I can't get around to snapping a pic or two this weekend with the two directions that I mount it in.

I'm glad you're liking it. It can be a bit of a squeeze to get it in there, but for the price you can't go wrong!

dude, i was about to respond to this post. lostmycage, i owe you a beer. this thing is great. i just got done figuring it all out and it really solves my need for a glovebox. i had been really missing the gb on the vespa. i had all my insurance info in there, i had gloves, i hung my garage door opener off the top, and i could even get a second bottle of water in there too.

so once i finally figured out how i would use this bag, it solved all of that.

the main compartment holds my gloves, my turtle fur and my balaclava (it's still dipping in the chilly in the morning here so i am still bringing them with me just in case) and i still have enough room to pop by the drive through if i need a quick meal to take with me.

the "mp3" pocket actually holds my garage door opener. i have to lift the main compartment flap to be able to push the button, but it is a small price to pay.

the zipper for the map display clicks on to the zippy cable for my magnetic work badge. the bag is so tight i can actually tuck it in between the bag and the steering column. this will save me 5 minutes in the morning as i am fumbling through my pocket trying to find my gate badge to get into the complex.

last but not least the map display will hold my phone. my phone is all touch screen, and it has bluetooth. so if i need gps, i can still see and work with the phone, without it getting rained on. also, i have bluetooth speakers in my helmet, so now i can actually pause my music if i need to make sure i don't hear sirens, or if i need to talk to someone. before i kept my phone in my inner pocket.

at any rate, consider that my official review for this product. if you own a blur, this is the thing that is missing from your life. for real.

it took me a second to figure out how to loop it into the seat like lostmycage's pictures, but once you do it's a snap. it comes with velcro but, you don't need it. it's not going anywhere...

I'm really glad you like it. I tried to get people interested in it before, but I guess my pics didn't do it justice. It fits the Blur perfectly! It didn't even occr to me about a touch phone... now I might actually get one, lol.

Here's something that I've been meaning to do, but didn't get around to it until today. The extra straps that come with this bag can be used to turn it into a sling style backpack. There's a double sided clip strap that can be adjusted out and attached to the bag which makes it perfect for carrying when it's off the bike.

Thank you - I just realized I can do the same thing with my Cortech tank bag. Doesn't quite work as well as a drink holder, but hey - it's like getting a new toy!

at truett's grill today (for those of you non-georgians, truett's grill is a chik-fil-a but has a side for dining and a side for fast food. it is themed like a diner, and has old cars and even a triumph with a sidecar at the one i go to.) and absentmindedly ordered a large sweet tea with my meal. so i figured i would drink it down a bit and try and pack it in the corner of the bag. to my surprise it was a good, solid fit.

once again, the tank bag earned it's money...

p.s. ask us georgians one day about the dwarf house and the hot brown it serves....mmmmmm
