August Scavenger Hunt (Week 4) Orange Barrels

Post by Orange Guy »

For my final week, I'd like to pay tribute to all the construction going on right outside my neighborhood.

+2 For your scooter in picture

+2 For you in the picture

+10 for an orange construction barrel in the picture. (There can be more, but you only get points for one.) LIKE THIS

+10 for a construction sawhorse barricade in the picture. (There can be more, but you only get points for one.) LIKE THIS

+10 for an orange cone in the picture. (There can be more, but you only get points for one.) LIKE THIS

+5 for a construction worker holding a slow/stop sign.
Bonus 10 if they are posing with your scooter.
Additional bonus 10 if they are on your scooter.

+1 for first entry

And purely for inspiration ...

Since I was late on posting this, this Hunt ends at MIDNIGHT, Monday, August 24, 2009. New hunt will be posted Sunday morning.

-Only one photo may be submitted by each member for each week’s subject. (But if you get a better pic later in the week, PLEASE edit your original post note that you posted a better pic and note in the newer post that it is a replacement for a previous pic.)
-Old photos you have lying around can NOT be used- they must be NEW photos taken the week the photo subject was posted
-10 BONUS POINTS (good anytime all summer) for a photo of you getting a ticket (photo must include your scooter & a cop writing the ticket) only one of these may be submitted per player. (Thanks to kazoo for the suggestion)
(Edit – you don’t have to be REALLY getting a ticket… if you can get a cop to pose like he/she is writing you a ticket, that is good enough)
-No Photoshop submissions
I suppose I should be upset, even feel violated, but I'm not. No, in fact, I think this is a friendly message, like "Hey, wanna play?" and yes I want to play. I really really do.

Wow, I'm about to just go out and take my picture next to one of these things even without my skoot, just to get this thing going.

I should be able to get mine tomorrow after work, assuming they haven't already finished that section of road.

There were really a TON of barrels, you can't even see a quarter of them in this photo:

OG, Don't we have to stick to the exact construction-type of signs, like you posted pix of?

Well, I'm leaving town tomorrow morning, and I do hope to submit something, but not sure if it will happen. According to the rules, it states "10 pts for Your Scooter". OG: if you give points for a different type of const sign, may I take my pic with my friend's buddy? Reason: My white Buddyfly went into Vespa of Portland for it's 1,500 mile tune-up, and I'm not picking it up until Monday. I'm using a different Buddy this weekend at the beach.

Please answer; I'll be checking the site regularly.

?The monthly winner HAS TO LEAD the next months hunt? Wasn't Aug the last month?

It's only +2 points for your scoot in the picture... but if I'm not mistaken you have to have a scooter in any picture for the hunt. Right? Maybe not necessarily YOUR scooter.

Yes, the winner leads the next hunt. And it's still August, so whenever this month is over (Monday night) then the winner will post September's hunt topics, 1 per week, or however they want to do it.

Krusty, those barricades work for me. Good pic!

Cecijinetta, I'm not gonna be picky. If you can't be with the Buddy you love, then love the Buddy you're with.

And yeah, I forgot to change the deadline. Let's got until Aug. 31.

Cecijinetta, you are the Queen of the Hunt. Since it is mathematically impossible to catch you after the stunning display of carven Black Bears in Week Three, I may not even take a pic this week for a paltry 22 points. But then again...

Hope you've been thinking of Hunts for September!

Oh, Come On Now. You can beat me. I've never done this before. Those construction workers couldn't wait to be in a picture!

I've just enjoyed the month of fun; I thought the winnings were like a gift certificate, but if I have to think up ideas for every week of September, it will be much more challenging.

I supposed this is a good "intro" to Modern Buddy?

Gotta Have REALLY Good Eyes ! ! !

Post by MYSCTR »

Here goes – Monday after work, finding a road crew working after 5:00PM is not so easy to do here yet we found several workmen running a late shift as they were preparing to close the underpass for the night.

YES - you got to have really great eyes - look directly across the street (over the left mirror) and there are 4 cones setting off the edge of the road!! 8) Of course they are hard to see, they are in McKinney and I am standing in Allen!

Oh, that is me standing by my 08 Buddy International Italia with the construction worker "volunteer" setting on the scooter to give us this shot!

+2 For scooter in picture
+2 For owner in the picture
+10 for an orange construction barrel in the picture
+10 for a construction sawhorse barricade in the picture
+10 for orange cones
+0 for a construction worker holding NO slow/stop sign
+10 Bonus if they are posing with your scooter
+10 Additional bonus if they are on your scooter

2 + 2 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 54 total points!

I'll total everything up and we'll see who gets to take the reigns for September.

And the rumors of any kind of prize for the winner seem to be greatly exaggerated.

I think these numbers are correct. If they are not, let me know and I'll fix 'em.

<table border="1"><tr><td>Hunter</td><td>Week1</td><td>Week2</td><td>Week3</td><td>Week4</td><td>Bonus</td><td>Total</td></tr><tr><td>Cecijinetta</td><td>44</td><td>19</td><td>249</td><td>37</td><td>10</td><td>359</td></tr><tr><td>MYSCTR</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>288</td><td>54</td><td>0</td><td>342</td></tr><tr><td>Syd</td><td>49</td><td>20</td><td>81</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>150</td></tr><tr><td>basmith42</td><td>44.5</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>44.5</td></tr><tr><td>NEWBIEMICHELLE</td><td>44.5</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>44.5</td></tr><tr><td>MarsR</td><td>44</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>44</td></tr><tr><td>SarahJ2001</td><td>34</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>34</td></tr><tr><td>Krusty</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>23</td><td>0</td><td>23</td></tr><tr><td>Orange Guy</td><td>0</td><td>19</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>19</td></tr></table>

That puts Cecijinetta on top. Put your thinking helmet on, Cecijinetta!

Hello all, I looked at the original start of this Scavenger Hunt, and it was only planned to be June, July and August. Eric???

?? Will there be a September hunt?? I already posted Week 1, but we may not have it.

We're in! September is great weather and an awesome tine to ride in Texas. I guess, who are the powers that be and what do they think of continuing? What about dropping to 1-2 hunts per month over the Fall/Spring months outside of summer? Any takers?

I think Eric has the final say.

Great idea about 2 per month; I also think the highest two scores of each month, EACH lead one 2-week hunt the following month. Less stress for all.

Let's all move forward with September Week 1, and whatever Eric deems should happen, we'll go with that.

For now - continue with the Week 1 rules, okay for all???
