The factory spec plug is a NGK BP7HS, did your BBK spec something different?

That's exactly what MY piston looked like. But it's true...the resistor plug should have made no difference at all.

actauly that is the wrong plug having the resitor has nothing to do with it you had a projector plug and your plug was too hot for a bbk
with a cast iron kit you should have a br8hs and with a al kit you need a br9hs you do not want the projector (that is what the p means
the 7 is too hot of a plug you need a colder plug you seized because of detonation
now if you get a polini kit you will need a completly diffrent plug

^ for reference...

I'm not convinced that the "P" plug in and of itself caused the detonation.
What plug did your mechanic intend to install?

i know many of the kits require the you get rid of the p but they also say to go to an 8 or 9 now polini has you use a completly diffrent plug

if you set your squish band too tight and other things are off a bit the p will slap the piston

but again a 7 is too hot considering most of the bbks run 11.5 to 14.5:1 cr where stock is about 8.5 to 9.0:1
so premiume and a colder plug are a must

Stock Rat 110 CR is < 7:1 (6.6:1)!

There are other factors that could cause detonation.

What was the air filter, carb, carb settings, oil, & octane?

Thought I had seen that before. Or something very close. Not the hole that was cut but the marks around the hole looks the same.

I swapped my BPR7HS out for a BP8HS today. It actually felt a little stronger. I've modified my airbox by removing the "wall" that the rubber elbow fits into completely. I also have a Prima pipe and re-jetted the carb up to a 115 main jet. It wheelies easily and runs very strong in the low to mid-range. Lost about 5 mph on top, though.

I hope this plug change will cure my detonation melt-down issue.

Are you using the stock paper filter element?

Hey OP (and anyone else who has had a RH or Ratt blow up):

Can you snap a pic of the underside of the piston?

Yes, I am. 3 holes in the "punch-outs" on the outside cover, the wall removed, but yes...still the paper filter element.
