Installed my new Gen-U-Bin

Post by C2 »

How do all,

I just installed my new Gen-U-Bin, and decided to take a few pics along the way for those of you who might be thinking about one.

Installation was very easy and the kit comes with clear and simple instructions. I had the whole thing done in about 10 minutes. You could probably do it in 5 if you weren't stopping to take pictures along the way.

So... on with the pics!

The box.

Tang, before the install.

The Gen-U-Bin unpacked... on the hood of my car.

10 min later, the Gen-U-Bin installed.

The drink holder insert removed to accommodate a tall soda bottle.

Once I have a chance to actually use it, I will post my thoughts.

Cheers,

Looks pretty cool. I've been thinking about getting one of these so I'll be interested to hear your impresssions of its usefulness and limitations.

C2,

Was curious after lifting the lid on the Gen U Bin,how easy or hard is it now to reach for stuff at the bottom of the Buddy's bin? Thanks.

Is it possible to see a couple of pics looking down into the bin? If it's a hassle don't worry about it. Thanks again mate.

I've had my Gen-U-Bin installed for 2-3 months. My views. I really like the cup holder. The middle storage is nice, too. There is no difficulty getting to things in it, because it has a bottom to it, so you do lose a bit of speace in the bottom of your original storage area, but most of that speace is almost unuseable, unless you have very small hands.
The "cup holder" that attaches to the right side and hangs of the side of the scooter is......uh.....strange. I have it on there, but I've never put anything into it. It's too big around for most items. I've heard people say they would put fuel bottles in it, but I don't know if it's sturdy enough for that.
My biggest gripe (and I've written to the manufacturers about it) is that the new hook that replaces the original is too flimsy. I used to hand gallons of milk and other heavy items from the stock hook, but wouldn't dare do it with the Gen-U-Bin hook. My response from the company said that they are going to look at that and possibly change it in the future.
The cup holder, alone, is worth the cost of it though. I would buy it again.
