Stebel to the Rescue

Post by lobsterman »

I'll keep this short.

This morning on the multi-lane WOT portion of my commute, I was in one of those swell on ramp/off ramp merges and a big van tried to just fade over from his lane into mine while I was right next to him. Speed was roughly 55 mph.

A few shots of the Stebel Nautilus Air Horn and he finally looked over and saw me and changed his mind.

Did I have anywhere to go to avoid him? Not really.
Would he have heard the stock horn? I don't think so since he seems to have barely noticed the Stebel.

Ride careful, keep your eyes open, and be prepared.

I'm glad you are OK. I've been thinking about getting a Stebel. Once we move to New Orleans in a couple of weeks, I'll have to give it more thought. The traffic down there is a lot worse than up here in Hattiesburg...

I HIGHLY recomend the Stebel! People are stupid and sometimes need LOUD reminders of that fact.

In retrospect (which is always clearer), I should have handled it differently and avoided the situation.

I saw him coming up the on ramp as I approached the off ramp, and it looked like we'd get to where the two joined up (still two lanes but now next to each other) roughly the same time.

I should have slowed approaching that point and just let him go ahead of me.
