awesome! and congratulations on you sweet new ride
I'm assuming that was 83mph indicated right? Does anyone know yet about what percent the new Blur speedos are off by? I'd be interested to see what thier gps top speed ends up being.

I think that my speedo is off by about 5 mph, maybe a little more at higher speeds. I've not explored much WOT, but I can tell you that the most remarkable feature so far is the mid-range. The handling is so solid and the brakes so good, I'm riding deeper into turns and hitting the throttle just past the apex and really feeling the push on the back (acceleration) that I'm just not used to on a scoot.
Also, darn near perfect exhaust sound at speed, loud, but not too loud. Everything is breaking in nicely, it's riding smoother, getting a bit louder and the engine is getting smoother (I think). I did the oil and the gear oil this past weekend, and both were is good shape.
I am very impressed, and at almost 400 miles (2 weeks old tomorrow!), I'm still very excited every time I go for a ride.

400 miles in two weeks, not bad! Glad to hear that your scooter only gets better with miles, thats a really awesome feeling. I couldn't believe how much more I came to love my sh150 the more I rode it.Rippinyarn wrote:I think that my speedo is off by about 5 mph, maybe a little more at higher speeds. shouldn't have any problem on the superslabs - I've done short stretches on my 150 without any issues. I wouldn't recommend extended trips on the slab though, for me just an exit or two to get there quicker when the need arises. Otherwise I prefer to stay on the quieter, safer, bendier surface streets on the scooter

i work from home, but on the days i do go in to the office (4 times a month) i use the superslab for a stretch of about 3 exits. the 150 is perfectly capable, so i'm sure you'll have no trouble at all.

mucho rapido
I agree. The new Blur 220 is a mover. 75+ mph and then I ran out of nerve since I was in a 40 mph zone. Very smooth and stable so I'm betting highway travel is reasonable with it.

Just Gotta Scoot says it's 15%-17% optimistic. I test rode the Blur and had similar results. I was shocked at how far off a digital speedometer could be.jasondavis48108 wrote:awesome! and congratulations on you sweet new rideI'm assuming that was 83mph indicated right? Has anyone done a GPS verified top speed on a broken in Blur yet? I'm very curious.

Don't glue it down! It turns about 1/4 turn (I can't remember clockwise or counter clockwise) and lifts off. There's a chance it could just be loose. Being that it's fuel injected, you'll want to have the option of getting to the gas tank should the pump fail. If it's rattling, get some foam weatherstripping to place around the bottom, put the trim ring on press and turn and that might take care of the rattle.

I to am a new SS220i owner. What were your choices for motor oil and gear lube? All synthetic, I assume?Rippinyarn wrote:I think that my speedo is off by about 5 mph, maybe a little more at higher speeds. You betcha, Rotella semi-syn (as the only 15-40 available locally and as POC Phil recommends somewhere) and I think Mobil or Valvoline gear oil of a near equivalent (very thick!) I also picked up some Mobile One 4t synthetic for the next engine oil change. I'll probably go back to Rotella as it's available in those large jugs and that cuts the price down a bit.
