Just picked it up tonight. I'm already blown away by the speed, acceleration, and general feel of power I get from this bike. Right now I want to run around waving my arms like Kermit the Frog, I'm so psyched!
Once I've passed the break-in period, I'll use the GPS speedometer program on my Android to get some speed runs in, both to see how far off the speedo on the scooter is, and to get a more accurate impression of what a bone-stock Blur will do. Stay tuned.
It looks like it's going a hunnert miles an hour just sitting there. Absolutely beautiful. I sure wish I had one of...wait a minute, I do have one of those. Congratulations!
I didn't mention it in last night's message, but on the way home I couldn't resist, and I took it on Interstate 5 for a couple exits. I was going to wait until after the break-in period, but I thought I'd try it before I lost my nerve.
Having never been on a motorcycle on the freeway, I quickly came to realize three things:
I now understand when motorcyclists talk about "being buffeted by the wind".
Going that fast on a scooter/motorcycle at night, on the freeway, was a little terrifying.
Holy crap, the Blur is fast!
I love my Rattler immensely, and will hate to get rid of it, but the higher speed and the extra power from the Blur have convinced me I made the right choice.
If they've got it available, look for the Blur windshield to help with the wind buffeting.
Don't be afraid to wring it out during break-in. The important thing is to vary the RPMs (with a CVT that means change your speed often) and don't just let it sitting idle.
From my test drive of the new Blur, it should be able to handle the Interstates without too much trouble.
Congrats Scalpel!
but repeat after me: "This is my Rattler and I love it, I love my blur as well, they are different scooters for different reasons, and there's nothing wrong with having two...."
"Hey You, yeah, all you'se thoughts, specially you, creepy wierd one in the corner, Screw you guys, I'm going for a ride..."
They should. Someone with a 220 will have to check to see if there's a mount under the headset and the 4 bolts on the grab bar for the rack to mount to.
I can't think of a reason to change them unless they came up with a better system, but I think they put most of their design efforts into the drive train.
