SI white-wall "tube' tires. Are they safe?
OK, as a new owner of an SI, I’d like to know how many other SI owners have had a flat tire since taking possession of your scooters? Also, are any of you who HAVEN”T had a blowout concerned at all about riding around on these stock “tube” tires? I’ve read several post on here and the pros and cons seems to be a fairly evenly split, so I don’t know if this is something I could be worried about or not. Is there no company out there who makes a “tubeless” white wall that would fit our SI’s? I don’t want to be feeling like I’m riding around on thin ice, so to speak.

I have over a thousand miles on my original whitewalls and have had no problems. Not even a loss of pressure. They seem to be wearing well in that I see hardly any wear at all. Tubes were the standard on scooters for a long time and are quite safe. If you would like to keep the look but want a better tire take a look at Continentals.

I have put well over 100,000 miles on motorcycles with tube tires and have never experienced a blow-out while underway. I would not lose any sleep over it.
