Touch up paint.

Post by lillylars »

I searched for this thread and didn't find it. Some people had asked, but no answers from what i saw. Can you get touch up paint? The dealer mounted my windshield a little low, and it has rubbed out the green paint in a part on the front. Nice Install, huh. Any suggestions for touchup?? It isn't just a scratch...it is rubbed down to the grey plastic.

The easiest is to have it made for you. Around here, the local Ace Hardware store will scan the color on your bike and mix a quart of exterior enamel to match for about 8 bucks (more than you could ever use but it works). Several of the local auto parts stores will scan your color and produce a spray can for a little more money.

No, they scan the color of your scooter with a color scanner and develop a paint code. They then mix to match. The match is very good and usually better than commercial touch-up paint (if it were available) as paint color often varies from one batch to the next. The easiest is probably to remove a small panel and take it into the store. Some places are set up so that you could wheel the whole scooter into their paint shop (but not Ace Hardware, of course).
