Another Xena disc alarm lock question

Post by AlohaScoot »

Aloha my Buddy Ohana!

I've scoured the forums and forgive me if I've missed the answer to this. But it's been several weeks, and I just can't figure it out. So I've come to you for answers.

My baby is home! My first scooter ever! 50cc Red buddy. LOVE HER! Love her sooo much, that I want her very safe. Okay, so at night she's got that huge chain wrapped around her back wheel and latched into a hook in the asphalt. Both are Kryptonite. She's in a parking lot, very visible but covered.. and we do have scooter thefts.

I don't have a day lock. So, she's only got 9 miles on her because I can't take her out and leave her anywhere (without toting that heavy chain with me).

I think this is turning into two questions.

1st: I NEED to buy the correct Xena disc alarm lock. I want the highest security but I've heard I have to order the one that fits in my wheel. I printed out their form and tried figuring out which one to get by matching up the dots..I just can't figure that out. The rep at my dealership hasn't heard of the Xena disc lock alarm system.

My scoot is a 2012 and I've heard the wheels may be different than earlier models. So I have no idea which one to order. I want highest security but one that will actually fit. Does anyone know which one that is? I'm hearing 6 pin?? But a model number would be awesome! Thank you!

Now, I'll just throw in my second question. I don't know how to cable lock my scoot. I don't own a cable lock yet, don't know which to get and where to wrap it around.

I love my Buddy and want to take the best care of her that I can. I want to ride her, too! A trip down to Starbuck's sounds like a dream. Sounds so simple, but the lock thing I just can't figure out.

I'd love to make that little Starbuck's run a reality soon.

Thanks all! and Happy Scootin!

Does the 50 have a front disc? I think I've only seen one, and I don't recall!

I think I need to decide between these two:

xena XX6 or XZZ6L

It does, so a disc lock (if it fits) will work. :)

I'm sure you'll be ok making a few day trips. Shouldn't be a problem if you're only leaving it for a little while. Overnight, or far out of sight is something different. Going to starbucks or a local dive bar, you can probably park right out front and be in eyesight of it, should be no problem.

Wrap your cable lock around the footboard then around some fixed object. It's simple, and unless the cable is like 12 feet long, nobody's going to slip it over either end of the scooter. This works well with my Prima cable lock.

very good advice. My wife's was taken that way, it was only 7', and worked up and over the headset. 5' is optimal chain length IMO. I got a trimax 5' with the loop link on the end.

The cable lock I got from the very first by sheer accident fits through the back wheel openings. So I disk lock with Xena the front wheel and secure scooter's back wheel to the stationary rail at work. I also got a Forgetabout it chain and anchor at home.
If someone wants to get through all of the above - they will. I am just making it too much of an effort and they will need to make too much noise getting through my security.
For now I consider Xena my best line of defence. It foiled the first theft attempt and scared off would-be thieves several times afterwards.

I use a kryptonite noose in sketchy situations, using the u-lock to go around the frame itself(where the rear stand is attached and then noose around any object(tree, pole ect..). Also always use my zena for anything other than 2 minute stops, always use column lock.

Yeah, taking up slack is critical with a lengthy chain or cable.

But which one fits?

Post by Godio13 »

Hey everyone. I am in the same predicament as the poster. I bought the XZZ6 and I don't think that it fits the front disc brake of the Buddy Scooter 50cc that I have. Does anyone know what is the correct one to get? They say on the site that this model is for scooters and motorbikes, and the others are listed as for motorcycles, so I *know* i bought the right one. I am just doubting that it actually fits.

Does anyone have a Buddy scooter and a disc lock that they can recommend. I would prefer alarmed.

Thanks,
Trish

The XZZ6L is the size I have on mine. Are you sure you are putting it on correctly? http://www.xenasecurity.com/product/mot ... low/page1/# They seem to treat MB members pretty well with support and discounts!! If you contact them they will probably advise you.

It is? So then I am probably doing it wrong! Thanks for that and good call on dropping MB :). If I still can't figure it out I will contact them.

Thanks

I use it on my girlfriends buddy sometimes, being as the rotor slits, rather than holes, you have to insert it near the top of the rotor, so it rests sideways so the little sensor sits of the rotor. If you place it near the bottom or side the sensor will rest outside of the rotor and not work.
