Vee Tires, again

Post by Dr. Rock »

Didn't see this exact tire in a search anywhere. Is it new? It's not the P rated one KAOS reviewed. On the verge of buying some tires.. came in the scooterworks email.

I just ordered the Vee Rubber's winter tire http://www.scooterworks.com/Vee-Rubber- ... 7C566.aspx. It's due in early next week, hopefully I can get swapped out soon after. I'm down to the wear indicator and need a beefier then stock tire.

Think it's new. I have the P-rated ones and love them but they're tube tires. This one is clearly tubeless. Haven't seen any reviews but if it's like the P-rated it has my vote.

This is what I need for my Stella's new tubeless rims.

OK Vee's mounted plus a full service. Picked it up today and has rained for 24 hours so slow quickest route home… Will start putting miles on them in a few hours and will check back in with my report after a couple hundred miles. They didn't slide in the wet. ;)

I have one of those on my rear wheel right now. I like it quite a bit (and can't beat the price) but I think I might switch back to Michelin S1s (or the venerated Heidenaus that Eric is always going on about!). I was hoping the Vee would last a bit longer but I think I'm destined to only get 3-4k out of a rear tire. I don't have any problem with the Vee (and I like the slightly fatter profile of a 100/90-10 vs 3.50x10) but something about the S1s really made me feel more confident. I'm almost certain it's all in my mind but that feeling is important.

Looking forward to reading your review!

Initial report:
About 200 on them, have pretty much got rid of that new tire careful accelerating in the corner bit.

1st thing I will say is, I'm an idiot for waiting 5900 miles to get tires other than the factory shing changs or whatever they were. I got good on them but never liked them.

It's like an entirely new scooter, the ride is sooo much smoother and it feels great. So far the cornering is fantastic. It's been a joy.

I also considered the S1's and even the Heidenaus Eric raves about… But I thought eh scooter tires how different can they be? Yeah I get it now. Almost scored some zippys for almost nothing at recent rally but guy backed out and I'm sure they are collecting dust in his garage.

I'll post here and a there about them, but I'm no expert as my first set of bought tires. My advice to newer Buddy owners with stock tires, fork it out and get something nice, definitely safer. In total I spent, $32 per tire plus shipping ($78 Total) and about $100 to have them put on, with a full service mind you. (OMG that's a whole other thing, new plug, valve adjustments, air filter, etc the engine is purring, I'm at 6k).

Now I'm crazy curious how those higher dollar tires feel.

Several thousand miles and a few years later. A follow up. For the price these vee's can't be beat. Have ridden everything with them. Super grippy. My two cents.

i gotta agree. i am on my third one on the rear of my Agility 125 and i find it to be excellent. i still run the mediocre stock front because i found a deal on a couple from some wrecked scoots, but i ordered this exact VEE when scooterworks had the 12in priced at $30 with free shipping. $60 for two tires, shipped! never heard much of VEE before but just changing the rear made the scoot handle like a whole other, better handling scoot! after my second wore out i hunted down another bargain priced one so i am working on my third, now. just had it mounted last week, i also run 'em 'til they are like racing slicks. but handling remains good.

as another user posted though, 4000 miles give or take is what i have gotten out of both tires and expect the same from the third. at $30 a pop that is fine with me as i ride hard and weigh a good 220lb. my stock rear got around 6000 or so before it was done. BUT the scoot handled somewhat twitchy and was not confidence inspiring in corners. so what good is that?

these tires will see my Blackjack soon. glad you posted back because i had no idea scooterworks still had the 10's. at $30, less then a "budget" tire for many brands, its a no brainier imo. i can't imagine a scooter tire at any price doing much better

either that or i just ride like a Boss :P

The back tire has definitely worn more as we would expect. The front is still practically brand new.
