We can't have underglo, or anything not on the front or back that looks even remotely cosmetic, and they are pretty strict about it. I had also been thinking about a milk crate, because I know the Buddy back racks tend are on the smaller side, and top cases are kind of expensive- plus, I've grown used to being able to bungee down a free-form to a back rack, instead of forcing something to fit in a confined space... so I was hoping the milk crate would be a nice compromise.AWinn6889 wrote:I'm sure NY does too... but I don't really care. I might also get an additional LED brake light and turn signals for the rear because after putting on my rear rack, and bungee-ing my "locker-sized" milk crate to it today, the turn signals and brake light are in shadow. I will have to have my bf sit on it and play with the lights for me to actually see and decide what I want to do. If I do though, they will probably be mounted ON the crate itself, and plug in only when I need the crate on there. Oh, and I will post a picture tomorrow with the rack and everything on there if anyone is interested.

lol "yet" is definitely the key word there... I still have yet to jump out of a plane.. but it will happen eventually! That's kind of lame on VA's part... it just makes sense to allow for something that can help make the rider more visible. .... but it's cool. I just had to go unusually fast today because I left my house late, and traffic was moving in a fairly cooperative manner. So when I would usually be going about 45mph, I was going about 60 today, at 40-45 the crate's not that bad.

Also, I think it's funny how many dudes dig girls that know their way around any kind of motor vehicle. Whenever I tell people about how I work on my own stuff they're like "No, you don't, you couldn't... you're a GIRRRL." Haha.

It ended up being about 48*F outside. Still pretty cold. My jacket, neck warmer and everything were all good, but I will definitely be doubling up on gloves under my gloves next time it's that chilly out!

Where'd you get those?? Do the laces stay tied? Are they easy to get on/off? (no zipper, right?) Got these little lovelies in the mail yesterday. They are technically "hiking" boots, but they have a nice 2-2.5" chunky heel on them with some pretty hefty tread on the soles. If you couldn't tell from my pictures above, I still couldn't sit flat footed on the Buddy in my normal boots, and I feel a little more comfortable having some kind of heel on the ground. These are extremely comfy, and provide a decent amount of ankle support. But most importantly, they are really cute with leggings, boot cut, or skinny jeans.. I am actually wearing them at work today to break them in.
Well, I ordered them from Kohl's. I just checked online and I couldn't find them again though, could just be user error, I had a hard time finding them once I decided to order them too. They are very easy to get on and off, and they do not have a zipper. I always do double knots when I wear shoes that tie, because I don't want them to come untied, and the laces are certainly long enough. I also attached additional hook/loop jobbies (the things that are usually the top 3 'holes' on regular hiking and work boots) so that I can tie them up higher over my ankle, and make to keep them tight.etak wrote: Where'd you get those?? Last night was great, the only thing on me that was really cold were my knees. My hands were just a comfort thing, they were a little chilly, but they weren't frozen. I have a good deal of skiing and snowmobiling gear already, (including a large array of silk liners for pretty much every part of me) it's just all kind of buried since we moved recently, and our downstairs flooded during the hurricane, so it's even MORE buried now. My balaclava is the kind that can snap into a jacket, but I was fine last night with just my double-lined fleece neck warmer, idk how well the balaclava would fit under my mod-FF helmet, it's already rather snug. Also, good undergarments ( long johns, again 100% heavyweight silk if you can swing the cost) help alot..And then you just accumulate good bike riding gear...I have a fortune in my bike closet, but I have accumulated it over 30 years
I think its AWESOME to see you guys riding in the cold...All it takes is good gear and a little determination. Way to go !

It's a really good thing that my boyfriend scoots too and totally doesn't care, because I resigned myself to having crap hair already. I put up the white flag. I may try a bandana, but it's really only going to keep my liner clean- it's my ponytail that gets messed up. I just roll it up and stick a claw clip around the knot after I put on the helmet, since I can't stand it on my neck- or, put my neckwarmer over it and deal. I was gonna get a trim and re-layer my hair... but screw it. My BF rides a motorcycle, but I will not give up on my hair lol. The bandana works okay, better with my half helmet than my mod-FF, the mod-FF pretty much just flattens it within a half hour no matter what I try. The half helmet is the only one I can really clip my hair up with, I can put a hair tie in it if I'm wearing my mod-FF or my 3/4, but it just makes a crease by the time I get to where I'm going. I am in serious need of a hair cut though, if I wore my bangs straight down like I had when I originally had them cut last fall, they would go down to the tip of my nose... good thing I have gotten used to, and am capable of forcing my bangs to go across my forehead at an angle, otherwise I would look like cousin IT.
