I'm not in any way trying to compare MB with any other forum (we're unique :D), but I was just browsing through another forum that I frequent (www.audiokarma.org) and noticed that out of a little over 114K registered members, there were a combined total of 1290 members/guests currently active/online compared to 40 on MB. Quite a staggering difference.
Anyone else know of other forums with such large numbers of members/guests? Or am I just living under a rock or something and these things are common? :|

I'm sure the Honda and Nissan main forums are just as beefy as VW's.
Personally, I don't pay any attention to anything on Vortex except the For Sale section when I need parts... usually end up getting them off of someone local anyway.

I don't do too many forums since many are associated with hobbies, and with work and 15-18 credits a semester I don't have time for much of anything else. But, Here and a few postings on ModernVespa are the extent of my motorcycle/scooter forums.

The other two that get the most time from me are Universal Shooting Sports (a non-partisan shooting enthusiast forum) and the Liberal Gun Club (just as it sounds). Even then, I still don't post as much as I used to simply because I'm just so busy with school these days :(

There are a couple of motorcycle forums that I only go on occasionally because of that. You don't really feel like you are having a discussion with individuals, and to be honest there are a lot of hot heads and really one-sided arguments when you get that many, and many different types of bikes. Those sites, to me, are good only when you really need a question answered but not when you are looking for common ground.
