Just bought a Shoei Qwest

I'm really happy with the helmet so far. Bright yellow is definitely high vis (part of switching all my gear to yellow), nice ventilation, much quieter than my current helmet, etc. Anyone else have experience with the Qwest? Any thoughts. I know we have some avid RF1000/1100 users here, so I was curious what people thought.

"Shuei Quest?" I thought you bought some weird, off-brand Chinese scooter!

May be a typo, unless you got ripped off, but I think you got a Shoei!

Well if it was, it would have probably cost about the same as the helmet!

True! I have seen people riding in Shoeis that probably cost more than the scooters they were riding.

I have the yellow Shoei Qwest also and it is the most comfortable and quietest helmet I've used. They are expensive but for me the quiet was worth it. It is harder to get my glasses on than with my other full face though.

isn't it amazing the difference that hi viz yellow makes? I use an Icon yellow military spec vest over my black Corazzo jacket... most of the time. But the once in a while when I don't, boy do I notice a difference in the reaction time of the cagers, whether they be about to change lanes next to me or turn in front of me.

I just bought the same ... brilliant yellow qwest. I like the helmet, and it's quiet (certainly quieter than my Hawk modular), but I can't go for 2 seconds without the shield cracked or it fogs up entirely, blocking my vision.

It's been in the 40's here in the morning, and we've had more rain than is usual this week... so I imagine that it's contributing to the fog issue.

This morning, slightly warmer (50's) and it was not so much of a problem.

Also, even if fog wasn't an issue, it doesn't fit under the seat of my Citycom, where the Hawk and other helmets have. Since the Citycom doesn't have helmet hooks, this is a bit of an issue (until I get the Givi rack/case installed next week).

Additionally, I feel like a bit of a chipmunk with the cheek pads that come with the Medium - the large was just a bit too big though. I know I can get thinner pads, but that's another cash outlay...

I have until Saturday to return the helmet. Should I spend another $90 for a pinlock shield plus $X for cheek pads and keep the helmet (which will eventually fit in the Givi case) or return it and hope for better luck with another brand.

Please let me know what you think.

I have to admit, that I've long been of the opinion that you don't always get what you pay for with helmets.

That said, not long ago I tried on a Shoei FF for the first time. I'm pretty hard to fit in FF helmets, which is why I wear a modular. The Shoei not only fit, the quality was apparent in the comfort and interior padding and lining materials. Pretty comfy.

Not as plush as an Alteliers Ruby, but quite nice!
