first two up trip

This weekend I was meeting Miah and another Denver area scooter pal. Angela decided she could brave riding on the back for the short distance, and actually liked it! She liked it enough to continue the experience for the day, during which we bought her some gloves, helmet and jacket. She's also going to ride for the posted event next week.

here's what I have noticed:

1) The brakes will work, but you definitely need extra distance!

2) The seat is a tad small for this sort of behavior, but you can make do.

3) I miss my right mirror, may it RIP.

We hope to have her on my Zuma later this week. If she really likes it, then she can take a class and decide for herself if she wants to purchase something.

I doubt I will ever ride "two up" on a small scooter. Or maybe even a big one.

Want a ride? Better get your own.

Pretty sure I would drop it, crash it, or brake into the rear end of a car

it makes me a tad nervous, but I figure I'll stay near the rear of the pack. hopefully if the next one is 50cc friendly, she can ride my other one for now.

i've two upped and it's something i'd only do in an emergency. that being said, i find it easier to do than on my GTV. go figure..

Thx. I probably won't do it for a 2nd ride. if I had a different kind of ride maybe. Now that I've done it, I'm OK with it, but this trip will be @ 90 min of ride time. After that, she needs her own

Hey for the right passenger I'd ride 2-up anytime! Glad you had fun! And if it served to introduce Angela to the fun of scooting well all the better. I do agree though, for anything more than a short trip the Buddy is just not quite big enough. So you'd better be riding with someone you enjoy being close to

Good for you both, going 2 up. I cant convince my girlfriend to ride 2 up all the way up to denver and back, but its not bad for us, of course I'm on a 250cc with a BIG seat, and flip out back foot rests, so mine is made for it

x2 ! well said. I am 6'3" and rode to a rally last year 2 up on a 125 buddy. It was fine, not the fastest scooter and we had to watch the stopping distanced, but I had no real issues. That being said we only did 70 miles or so 2 up. And for a long trip it would get old, and luckily, she liked sittin' close to me

Yeah, I'll be comming up this weekend for the ride.

Guams C3 seat is so small no one can ride with him, and they would have to push from the back they'd be going so slow

I ride 2-up with my wife all the time, down country and dirt roads. We love it, especially when we go insect and flower hunting. The only problem is the foot pegs (dumb design

)I am going to design some flip out foot-pegs using bmx axle pegs for her and should have them completed by the end of next week.

HA! Now I understand your avatar a bit better!

My main concern is that this is a city ride, but those that I have ridden with from this group are mostly good and always careful riders. In fact, I have heard that the main ride leaders have told people that are obviously dangerous to either adjust or leave the ride entirely.

I figure as long as I give myself some good stopping distance I should be fine.

This is something Miah has reminded me to do more anyway. "if you can't see their side mirrors, back off a hair". sometimes we all get caught up in the 'formation' of it and become a tighter one than intended!

'the plan' is progressing. Phase 2 will consist of her learning on the Zuma. If she likes it, then she can pay to take her MSF class, and we'll go from there! Since she'd be a 'recreational' rider, and most of our group rides are city street friendly, I'm a tad wary of going off the deep end. if she worked close by and could use it as a commuter most of the time, I'd beg! her truck does not get the best mileage.

We just got back from a nice two up, about three miles away and it was a nice ride. It is the only way I can con my wife into hugging me any more

While we have gone further on the 170i it would be a bit much to take a ride over say 10-20 miles round trip. I doubt we would enjoy it much. Maybe a 20 mile trip with a stop in the middle. We went to Steak n Shake and got a soda-pop and an order of fries. We were not the only bike there, a couple came in on their Harley, not as cool as a Buddy, but we did not mind them eating in the same restaurant we were in

Now I won't lie, but i do look forward to the day when we get a bigger bike and can take a long ass trip, but until then, taking the Buddy to the Soda-pop shoppe is fun for now.

I have gone two up on my Buddy quite a bit, and it has never been a problem for city riding. With one person or combined weight was around 400 pounds, and the Buddy did fine as long as I gave it plenty of braking room.

Only the last time when I went two up with a deer ended badly!

20 mile two up with my 10 year old son, we had a nice break in the middle, nice for me. Why just for me? He was at the dentist! Our butts are going to be numb for a week after that ride though.

I ride 2 up on my BlackJack, and my GF enjoys the ride, even if she does find it to be crampt.

Ditto ; I two-up only in case of emergency. As long as there arent too many turns and the passenger understands not to lean to the side at any point, its not too bad at all. I was surprised.

We ride two up all the time, sometimes for convenience and other times just for fun.

A couple of weekends ago we went two up on a 30 mile ride through the westside, Griffith Park and the Observatory, Silverfish and gelato, and back. The weather was too nice to not get out and enjoy.
