topcase separated from baseplate & smashed on road!!!

Post by kmrcstintn »

I have no idea how it happened, but the locking latch that held my Scootr Logic topcase to the baseplate bent & failed and my topcase came off the scooter and smashed on the road; I am thankful no one was driving/riding behind me and that I didn't have any cargo in it;

I am P.O.'d that substandard materials were used (non-hardened steel for the locking latch) and now I am out $75 and I have to either resort to a milk crate or spend more money to replace my topcase; I had a Givi topcase on my Piaggio BV 250 and an EMCO topcase on my Rattler 110 and both survived the potholed and dipsy-doo'd roads of southcentral PA...what the hell happened with the Scootr Logic case?!? :x :x :x

Wow! :shock: Major bummer. I'm glad you and other drivers were okay.

What a pain. :headache:

Yikes that really sucks! Thank goodness that you had nothing in there.

I've always been so afraid that would happen to me that I often just reach behind me and check on the case. Just to make sure it is not getting loose.

I think you found the weak link in the chain. Glad to hear no one was behind you...My Givi stuff has held up well for me over the years.
Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?
